LOTUS ANNOUNCES CC:MAIL FOR THE WORLD WIDE WEB PROVIDES EASY ACCESS TO
E-MAIL VIA THE WEB

ATLANTA, Sept. 26, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced cc:Mail
for the World Wide Web (cc:Mail Web) Release 1.0, a product that allows
users to easily access cc:Mail from the Internet. With cc:Mail Web, users
can send and receive e-mail messages, as well as access their inbox,
folders and public bulletin boards through any computer equipped with an
HTML Web browser. cc:Mail Web allows users to accomplish this with a
browser as if they were using a cc:Mail client.

"cc:Mail Web builds on Lotus' commitment to deliver practical business
solutions that leverage the power and reach of the Internet," said John
Landry, chief technology officer and senior vice-president, Advanced
Technology, Lotus Development Corp. "Integrating our communications
products with the Web is an important step forward for our customers. By
offering them access to the best of both worlds, our customers can achieve
local as well as global collaboration."

CC:MAIL WEB PROVIDES GREATER ACCESS TO CC:MAIL

With cc:Mail Web, Lotus is the first vendor to offer customers access to
their corporate, LAN-based e-mail system via the Web. Much like accessing
voicemail through a public phone, users can access cc:Mail Web through any
computer that connects to the World Wide Web. By using a Web browser,
users can create, read and respond to mail as if in the cc:Mail
environment, including full access to mailing lists and directories.
Additionally, attachments can be launched if this capability is supported
by the browser. cc:Mail Web resides on a dedicated HTTP Web Server and
interacts with both Web browsers and any cc:Mail Post Office. The
administrator defines an address, or Uniform Resource Locator (URL), for
their users to access the HTTP Server.

For administrators, cc:Mail Web leverages the existing Internet
infrastructure, allowing users to be more productive on the Web, without
changing their current cc:Mail network. The cc:Mail Web software on the
HTTP server is the only addition to the existing network. cc:Mail Web also
offers a tool for administrators to identify and track users accessing
cc:Mail via the Web. Each action performed by the user in accessing their
cc:Mail mailbox is reported in cc:Mail Web log files.

"cc:Mail Web provides a powerful option for increasing productivity by
offering easier, streamlined access to the cc:Mail network," said Tom
Parish, manager of network services for Motorola Emerging Computing
Operations. "With cc:Mail Web, users can be connected and be productive
regardless of geographic location."
