Lotus Offers $30 Rebate on 1-2-3 Release 5

Also Provides Flexible, Risk-Free Migration Path to Windows 95 Version
Through Lotus Buyer Assurance Plan

Cambridge, MA-- From now to November 15th Lotus Development Corp. is
offering a $30 rebate, direct to end users, on any upgrade purchase of
1-2-3 Release 5 for Windows 3.1. This promotion features the best 1-2-3
product value to date, while offering no risk, migration flexibility by
providing a free license for the forthcoming Windows 95 version of 1-2-3
through Lotus' Buyer's Assurance Program.

Widely regarded as Lotus' flagship desktop product, 1-2-3 Release 5 has
distinguished itself in the industry by providing unique collaborative
computing features such as version management and range routing, data
mapping capability, high performance, and the ability to run smoothly on
both the Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 operating systems.

While Lotus is developing a fully enhanced, truly exploitive Windows 95
version of 1-2-3, Lotus has elected to concurrently offer this program in
response to the needs of tens of millions of spreadsheet users. Industry
analysts maintain that the majority of PC users, particularly business and
corporate users, will only migrate to the new operating system after
careful and systematic evaluation resulting in an indication of benefits
and return on investment.

"SoftTracks' research shows that only 4% of Windows 95 units will go to
large organizations in 1995," said Chris LeTocq, analyst at SoftTracks in
Los Altos, CA. "Lotus' Windows 95 product schedule matches these large
organizations' migration plans, and the aggressive rebate will generate
retail excitement for end-users and small businesses, with an opportunity
to migrate to the Windows 95 product at their own speed."

Customers may take advantage of this promotion by upgrading from any
previous release of Lotus 1-2-3, or any qualifying spreadsheet, and
redeeming the $30 rebate coupon enclosed in the box. Based on the current
estimated street price of $99 for the Lotus 1-2-3 Upgrade, purchasers will
pay an average net price of just $69. In addition to these substantial
savings, customers will also qualify under the existing Lotus Buyer's
Assurance Plan which provides a coupon for a free license upgrade to the
forthcoming 1-2-3 for Windows 95.

In addition to supporting its user-focused philosophy, Lotus is also
hopeful that this aggressive promotion will benefit the reseller channel
by creating additional revenue opportunities. Early reaction from the
channel is positive. Brian Mitchell, merchandise manager with Micro Center
said, "We have high expectations that this rebate will take this already
proven best-seller to the next level." ELEK-TEK buyer, Marc Goldstein,
thinks Lotus will realize its hopes for the reseller channel. "It's a
terrific promotion," said Goldstein, "With a great incentive for the
customers -- and I know that it will help increase sales."
