Lotus Ships Lotus Notes Release 4.0 Test Build 2 to More Than 10,000
Business Partners and Customers Worldwide

Accelerates Delivery of Third Party Products and Services

CAMBRIDGE, Oct. 26, 1995 -- Lotus Development Corp. today announced wide
scale shipment of a pre-release version of Notes Release 4.0 integrated
messaging and groupware to more than 10,000 Lotus Business Partners and
customers worldwide. This pre-release software, called Test Build 2 (TB2),
marks a significant milestone in the development and delivery of Notes
Release 4.0 and will enable Business Partners and corporate developers to
accelerate the delivery of applications, products and services. Notes
Release 4.0 is scheduled to ship before the end of 1995.

"With Test Build 2, we commence the final phase of bringing Notes Release
4.0 to market worldwide," said Jeff Papows, Lotus executive vice president
and chief operating officer. "As we move forward with final testing, we're
working closely with our Business Partners and customers to set the stage
for the quick adoption and deployment of Notes Release 4.0. With more than
3.3 million seats and 7,000 companies using Notes, it is well established
as the leading integrated enterprise messaging and groupware solution.
Notes Release 4.0, which we will deliver in 1995, well in advance of the
first releases of quasi-competitive products, will extend our leadership
even further."

TB2 is part of the Notes Release 4.0 phased development cycle rather than a
conventional beta program. Under this phased approach, Lotus has maximized
development resources and allowed for greater Business Partner and
customer participation earlier in the design and development process.

In mid-1994, Lotus delivered a Field Test Partner Build of Notes Release
4.0 to a select group of Business Partners and customers. In October 1994,
nearly 250 Business Partners received a Professional Developers Build.
Test Build 1 was delivered in June 1995 to 1,000 Business Partners and
customers, accelerating product stabilization and wide scale Business
Partner deployment.

"Lotus has demonstrated its commitment to Business Partners and its respect
for our input by supporting us early in the Notes development process
through special programs and pre-release software," said Randy Eckel,
president, InfoImage, Inc., a Lotus Premium Business Partner. "Notes
Release 4.0 presents us with a tremendous business Notes Release 4.0-based
products and services right out of the gate."
