New CD-ROM for Mathematics, Modeling, & Simulation on the Macintosh

Worcester, MA (September 25, 1995). The MacSciTech Association today
announced the availability of a new CD-ROM entitled "Everything You Always
Wanted to Know About Math & Simulation, But Were Afraid to Ask...CD-ROM."
True to its title, the Math & Simulation CD includes over 600 MB of
information, vendor demos, contributed shareware, freeware, Internet
resources, and technical articles related to mathematics, modeling, and
simulation on the Macintosh.

Designed for scientists and engineers, the CD provides more than 5600
files, including over 20MBs of Mathematica and Maple Notebooks. The CD-ROM
collection also contains general math and simulation software, as well as
specific programs for chemistry, physics, engineering, astronomy, biology,
and more. The range of programs is quite diverse and extends from
esoteric, pure math to the most nitty-gritty applied calculational
techniques.

Specific vendor demonstrations have been conveniently gathered together in
one place on the CD, such as StatView from Abacus Concepts, HiQ from
National Instruments, JMP from SAS Institute, Theorist from Waterloo
Maple, DataDesk from Data Description, Extend from Imagine That, IGOR from
Wavemetrics, and Minitab from Minitab. The Internet was also thoroughly
searched for math-related gems. For example, software like the excellent
molecular modeling program, MolView, are also archived on the CD.

"Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Math & Simulation, But Were
Afraid to Ask...CD-ROM" is available directly from MacSciTech. The price
is $39 for MacSciTech members, $59 for non-members. Additional CD's are
available for $29 members, $49 non-members. Delivery is from stock.

MacSciTech, founded in 1991, is an independent, professional association of
over 1500 scientists and engineers from research, medical, university, and
manufacturing organizations. MacSciTech produces a variety of publications
and CD-ROMs, as well as technical conferences and education programs. The
group also supports several Internet-based forums, including a World Wide
Web site (http://www.macscitech.org), and local meetings to support
computer users in science, research, engineering, and industry.
MacSciTech's Developers Advisory Council of MacSciTech is a group of over
30 hardware and software developers who also work to promote the effective
utilization of computers in science and engineering.
