Contract Signed to Launch Router Partnership

MICROSIM SIGNS AGREEMENT TO OEM COOPER & CHYAN AUTOROUTER WITH MICROSIM
PCBOARDS SOFTWARE

September 27, 1995 -- IRVINE, Calif. -- MicroSim Corporation today
announced an agreement with Cooper & Chyan Technology, Inc. of Cupertino,
Calif. to bundle the Cooper & Chyan SPECCTRA autorouter with the recently
announced MicroSim PCBoards with Autorouter for Windows, Windows NT, and
Windows 95.

Under the terms of the agreement, MicroSim will integrate the Cooper &
Chyan SPECCTRA autorouting products into every MicroSim printed circuit
board layout package. By joining forces, Cooper & Chyan strengthens its
presence in the desktop/PC arena, and MicroSim will offer, for the first
time, advanced autorouting technology.

"The OEM partnership with Cooper & Chyan greatly enhances our PCB product
line, said Wolfram Blume, MicroSim president. "The combination of advanced
Windows-based layout editing and leading-edge autorouting provides a new
standard of performance for the desktop EDA market."

"Cooper & Chyan is widely recognized for its advanced autorouting
technology, and MicroSim is a leader in high-quality, Windows-based EDA
products for the desktop," said Jack Harding, Cooper & Chyan president.
"Therefore, it's the perfect match."

SPECCTRA products use ShapeBased technology which differs from the grid-map
architecture used by many other companies. Cooper & Chyan invented
ShapeBased architecture to address the problems that evolving printed
circuit board technologies impose on CAD design tools.

Unlike grid-based architecture, ShapeBased technology models each element
exactly so there is precise adherence to design rules with no
approximations, resulting in more compact layouts with fewer layers.
Computer memory is efficiently used because each shape is a simple entity,
not the sum of hundreds of thousands of grid-based elements. Diagonal
routing algorithms handle staggered pin components of non-standard
dimensions that previously required manual routing.

ShapeBased architecture is much more efficient than grid-based systems for
dense surface mount designs, especially when components are a combination
of metric and English measurements. It uniquely handles today's fast
circuit design requirements, achieving high completion rates while
following high speed electrical rules.

MicroSim Corporation recently expanded into the printed circuit board
design market with the announcement of its high-end, easy-to-learn
Windows-based software package, MicroSim PCBoards, priced up to 90 percent
less than the competition. The product offers the features of high-end PCB
layout packages and more, in a design environment that's well integrated
and easy to use. The combination of MicroSim PCBoards with Cooper and
Chyan autorouting technology provides the developers of today's demanding
digital and analog designs the power to meet all electrical and
manufacturing rules, while reducing manufacturing costs and time to
market.

MicroSim offers a full range of powerful, integrated EDA software products
for schematic capture (MicroSim Schematics), analog simulation (MicroSim
PSpice and MicroSim PSpice Basics), mixed analog/digital simulation
(MicroSim PSpice A/D and MicroSim PSpice A/D Basics+), CPLD synthesis
(MicroSim PLSyn), logic simulation (MicroSim PLogic), analog performance
optimization (MicroSim PSpice Optimizer), signal integrity analysis
(MicroSim Polaris), and Mentor and Cadence integration.

The company introduced its flagship product, MicroSim PSpice, in 1984 as
the first SPICE-based program available for IBM-PC compatibles. MicroSim
PSpice significantly expands the capabilities of the SPICE program
developed at the University of California, Berkeley. The product is so
widely used, with over 23,000 customers, that many corporations and
universities refer to MicroSim "PSpice" in place of the generic "SPICE"
(Simulation Program With Integrated Circuit Emphasis).

MicroSim products are available for Microsoft Windows, Windows NT, Windows
95, DOS, Sun Microsystems, and Hewlett-Packard systems. The company sells
directly to engineers and through VARs (value-added resellers). MicroSim
application engineers provide same-day response technical support free to
customers. More information on MicroSim products is available by phone at
(714) 770-3022 and (800) 245-3022, via fax at (714) 455-0554, or on
Internet at Sales@MicroSim.com.
