MICROPOLIS ANNOUNCES RAIDION LSX HARDWARE CONTROLLER FOR ITS 5.25-INCH DISK
ARRAYS

LSX Controller Module Enables Higher Capacity Storage in RAID
Configurations

ATLANTA, GA, NETWORLD+INTEROP BOOTH #5552, September 27, 1995 -- Micropolis
Corporation (NASDAQ NMS:MLIS), a leading manufacturer of high-capacity
disk drives and storage subsystems, today introduced the RAIDION LSX
fault-tolerant disk array controller. The SCSI-to- SCSI RAID controller
module is designed to connect and interface with Micropolis 5.25-inch
external drive modules, including the latest 9.1GB drives, as well as
previous capacity 5.25-inch drive modules.

The RAIDION LSX Controller module is targeted at customers requiring higher
capacity, scalable RAID solutions. The new controller also enables
previous generations of Micropolis' RAIDION LS 5.25-inch software-based
arrays to be upgraded to a feature-rich hardware-based solution.
Additionally, the LSX controller module offers redundancy capability for
MICRODISK LS 5.25-inch external storage subsystems.

"The Micropolis mission is to provide customers with the most complete and
flexible storage subsystem solutions," said Holly Sacks, vice president of
marketing, Micropolis Corporation. "The RAIDION LSX controller module
provides new RAIDION disk array customers with the highest capacity drives
available in the marketplace, while existing customers are afforded the
flexibility to upgrade their present Micropolis subsystems to meet their
evolving RAID storage requirements."

The new RAIDION LSX controller module supports RAID levels 0, 1, and 5 and
can be configured to support up to 28 drive modules for a maximum usable
capacity of 255GB in a single disk array. RAIDION LSX disk arrays are
bootable, provide for multiple floating on-line spares, and may be
configured to support up to eight separate arrays within a single
controller subsystem. The LSX drive modules are hot swappable and feature
independent power supplies and cooling fans.

RAIDION LSX controller-based subsystems are "application-tuned" to maximize
performance in different computing environments, such as
multimedia/imaging applications which require very high, sustained data
rates to rapidly read/write large files or on-line transaction
processing/database server applications that require a higher transaction
rate.

The RAIDION LSX module's host administration utilities feature three array
management tools: a retractable LCD keypad built into the array
controller, RS-232 remote terminal support, and optional graphical user
interfaces (GUIs).

Pricing and Availability

Available in October, the new RAIDION LSX Controller module is aggressively
