Free 1996 Catalog Describes New Computer-Based Instrumentation Products

AUSTIN, TEXAS - SEPT. 1, 1995 - National Instruments - the Virtual
Instrumentation Company - announced today that its new, full- color 1996
catalog will be available in December 1995. The free catalog, which has
grown to 624 pages, describes the company's more than 500 software and
hardware products that engineers and scientists use to develop integrated
instrumentation systems for test and measurement and industrial
communication using industry-standard personal computers and workstations.
The catalog includes in-depth tutorials on data acquisition, GPIBGPIB,
VXI, and industrial automation; product line overviews; and selection
guides.

The 1996 catalog is color-coded into six sections - Software, Data
Acquisition, GPIB, VXI/MXI, Industrial Communications, and Customer
Education. The first five sections feature comprehensive tutorials,
complete with application examples, to help readers learn more about
plug-in data acquisition (DAQ) systems, signal conditioning accessories,
IEEE 488.2, VXI and MXI instrumentation, serial instrumentation, and
fieldbus. Complete ordering and warranty information is also included. The
catalog includes expanded sections on how to choose hardware and software
for IEEE 488, plug-in DAQ, VXIbus, and industrial products. The 1996
catalog also features separate listings of instrument drivers by
industrial I/O and test and measurement categories.

New software products highlighted include Measure, a new spreadsheet add-in
for direct data acquisition and serial control from Microsoft Excel. The
company's VirtualBench family of Windows-based turnkey virtual instruments
gives scientists and engineers the benefits of virtual instrumentation
without requiring programming. The 1996 catalog also describes new
versions of the company's LabVIEWR, LabWindows/CVIR/CVI, and HiQR
application software products. New hardware products include GPIB, DAQ,
and VXI interfaces for PCI-based computers; new PCMCIA interfaces for data
acquisition and instrument control; new low-cost plug-in DAQ boards; the
company's next-generation MXIbus interfaces, which connect
industry-standard PCs to VXI instrumentation systems; and serial
interfaces for industrial communications applications.
