Bloomington, MN -- September 25, 1995 -- Network Communications Corp., an
ISO 9001 certified manufacturer of computer network communications test
equipment, announced today the upcoming release of the 8000 Series Network
Probe.

This unique NEW PRODUCT features simultaneous LAN/WAN protocol analysis,
LAN encapsulated decoder, more than 30 other test instruments (some
optional), 8" color display and 50Mhz SLC 486 Single Board Computer (SBC),
all combined into a small portable platform.

The user of the 8000 Series Network Probe can concurrently test LAN and WAN
traffic looking at both sides of a network routing device to solve
heterogeneous network problems with a single tool! The Model 8000 combines
and enhances the features found in both the model 7000 and the LAN Network
Probe products making the combination much more than the sum of its
parts.

Since the 8000 Series Network Probe uses a 50Mhz SLC 486 SBC, the user can
utilize WindowsTM applications such as Excel to analyze trace data and
publish reports without leaving the Model 8000. The new WAN Translator
makes it possible to capture WAN traffic and decode it with the LAN
Network Probe.

Features of the 8000 Series Network Probe WAN instrumentation include
T1/2Mb (E1) with Drop and Insert, ISDN (PRI/BRI) including international
Decodes, PPP, Frame Relay, BERT to 2.048 Mbps, Auto-Configure, Data Line
Monitor, and many more.

Features of the 8000 Series Network Probe LAN protocol decoder which
decodes more than 100 protocols and supports Ethernet or Token Ring
networks. Some of the protocols decoded include Appletalk, Banyan, DEC
Net, Microsoft, IBM, NFS, Novell, SMB, Sun NFS, TCP/IP, Token Ring/LLC,
X-WINDOWS, XNS.Shipments for the 8000 Series Network Probe will commence
early in the fourth quarter.
