@HOME AND NETSCAPE ANNOUNCE STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP TO DEFINE CABLE- BASED
INTERNET SERVICES TO THE HOME

NETSCAPE PRODUCTS TO BE USED AS FOUNDATION FOR @HOME NETWORK

PALO ALTO, California (September 25, 1995) - @Home, a joint venture between
TCI Technology Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Tele-Communications, Inc.,
and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, announced today the company has
established a strategic partnership with Netscape Communications
Corporation to define cable-based Internet services to the home. As part
of the new relationship, @Home will license Netscape's client and server
software to be used as the foundation for the @Home network, a high-speed
broadband solution providing Internet access to personal computers via
cable.

Under the terms of the agreement, Netscape will license to @Home its
Netscape server software, including Netscape Commerce Server, Netscape
Communications Server, and Netscape Proxy Server, and its Netscape
Internet Applications, a family of turnkey software applications that
enable companies to conduct full-scale electronic commerce on the
Internet. @Home will license the Netscape Publishing System, Netscape
Merchant System and Netscape Community System, within the Netscape
Internet Applications family. Additionally, James Barksdale, president and
CEO of Netscape, will join @Home's board of directors.

@Home will deploy this technology throughout its network - facilitating
such Internet features as local content and advertising. Additionally,
@Home and Netscape will work together to develop a customized version of
the popular Netscape Navigator client software to be included with the
@Home service.

"@Home is working aggressively to change the way consumers access
information via their personal computers," said Will Hearst, CEO of @Home.
"By establishing an ongoing relationship with Netscape, together we can
offer users the easiest and most user-friendly way to access information
on the Internet. This new relationship enables the two companies to
provide an end-to-end Internet solution. In addition, we are thrilled that
Jim Barksdale has agreed to join our board of directors. His excellent
management and leadership skills will be a great asset to @Home."

The key benefit of @Home's service will be the speed with which information
is transported from the network to the consumer. It is estimated that the
transmission will be more than 500 times faster than current Internet
access offerings. Increased speed of transmission will enable users to
access on-line information, graphics and video faster than ever before.
The @Home network, to be deployed in select regions beginning in early
1996, will offer consumers access to existing content on the Internet, as
well as unique local content.

"Using Netscape's software at the core of our network infrastructure will
enable us to support today's Internet capabilities. In addition, Netscape
and @Home will work together to advance Internet authoring technology to
the next level," said Milo Medin, @Home's vice president for networks.
"Netscape's core software technology, coupled with our high-speed Internet
Protocol (IP) network infrastructure, will enable our customers - both
content providers and end-users - to easily develop and market rich
content, and utilize electronic mail, bulletin boards and chat services -
all in a manageable, highly scalable fashion."

"Coupling our full client/server software line with @Home's sophisticated
network expertise is a huge win for the industry and consumers," said Jim
Barksdale. "I am pleased to have been asked to join @Home as a board
member."

@Home and Netscape will begin work on Netscape Navigator customization for
@Home customers immediately. @Home will announce the location of its first
market rollout by the end of the year.
