Radioclassics to Broadcast Original War of the Worlds on Internet for
Halloween

Internet Outfitters Adapts 1938 Classic to Internet; Worldwide RealAudio
Broadcast Includes Chat Rooms Shut Down by "Martians"

LOS ANGELES, CA--Internet Outfitters, suppliers of Web site design and
custom applications, will kick off its "RadioClassics" series with the
world premiere Internet broadcast of the 1938 Orson Welles production of
War of the Worlds this Halloween.

The broadcast, which can be heard in its entirety live using the RealAudio
live audio playback software, can be listened to from anywhere in the
world at the company's War of the Worlds site, http://waroftheworlds.com
and at, http://radioclassics.com. "The broadcast will be available for
preview on October 25, premiere October 31 for the anniversary of the
original broadcast and play through the end of November," said Chris
Paine, president of Internet Outfitters.

The Web site features "The Last Chat Room," a version of the story as Orson
Welles might have tried in a 1995 Internet chat room. Here, Martians
invade the Earth as a handful of people witness the event from an on-line
chat room. Another Web page invites Internet surfers to create their own
Wellesian scenario for a modern invasion.

The War of the Worlds Web site will feature the complete broadcast of the
original show, as well as graphics and biographies of Orson Welles, the
Mercury Theater and news accounts of the nationwide Halloween panic
created by the 1938 radio broadcast. Internet Outfitters has created many
innovative additions to the tribute broadcast.

"There are many similarities between radio in 1938 and the Internet in
1995," said Paine. "When Welles created his masterpiece, radio was a new
medium with about 38 million listeners. The media was experimenting with
live news broadcasts, advertisers were dreaming up sponsorship ideas, and
everyone wondered how radio could ever compete with the printed word.
Today the Internet is the new medium, with 38 million people signing on
for the first time."

The RadioClassics Web site also features a free download of the innovative
audio playback software, RealAudio, which allows listeners to immediately
listen to sound. The RadioClassics Web site production design references
science fiction classics of the 1930's.

Future RadioClassics programs include: The Green Hornet, Sherlock Homes
(with John Geilgud and Ralph Richardson), Groucho Marx' You Bet Your Life,
and more Orson Welles radio programming, including The Adventures of The
Third Man.
