POLYCOM LAUNCHES SHOWSTATION AT TELECON XV -- DOCUMENT CONFERENCING
PROJECTOR CREATES NEW MARKET SEGMENT

Audioconferencing Market Leader Demonstrates Real-Time Exchange of Complex
Information and Showcases Leading Audioconferencing Technology to 15,000
Attendees

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- October 25, 1995. Polycom, Inc., with a 75% market share
in audioconferencing phones, demonstrated its revolutionary ShowStation
document conferencing projector to over 15,000 teleconferencing managers
and information technology specifiers at TeleCon XV. Filling the gap
between audio and video conferencing solutions and ushering in a new
market segment now made possible by the new T.120 conferencing standards,
ShowStation gives end users the ability for real-time review and revision
of documents during a conference call. Also displayed were Polycom's
SoundStation products, including large room solutions and international
models.

The new ShowStation was publicly unveiled on May 15, 1995, but made its
industry debut to teleconferencing end users at TeleCon XV. Working in
tandem with Polycom's SoundStation, the world's leading conference phone,
ShowStation makes it easy for teleconference participants to interactively
view, annotate, and print business documents or data files. ShowStation
works much like an overhead projector that is linked, via regular
telephone lines, to distant meeting rooms or desktop PCs. This enables
live, interactive review of documents such as spreadsheets, diagrams,
slide presentations or memos. Computer based presentations and files can
also be shared by simply connecting a PC to one of ShowStation's auxiliary
ports.

"ShowStation has created quite a stir at our beta installations," said
Brian Hinman, Polycom's president and chief executive officer. "We knew
this product would be readily received by end users whose pent-up demand
for an intuitive appliance-type product drove much of our $10 million R&D
efforts. It has been gratifying -- and exciting -- to watch this product
ignite the imagination of its early users and create a brand new market
segment."

According to Hinman, with the emergence of the new T.120 standards,
interoperability between multi-vendor conference room systems and desktop
PCs finally makes document conferencing an effective and viable
teleconferencing solution. Says Hinman, "With its affordable price tag and
demonstrable ease-of-use, we believe that ShowStation will accelerate the
emerging market for document conferencing."

Preliminary comments from beta customers reinforce Hinman's confidence.
According to beta surveys, which were designed to capture information from
meeting attendees using ShowStation in actual applications, the
ShowStation has consistently delivered on its promises. Based on such
feedback, ShowStation is being finetuned for FCS, which is slated for
November of 1995.

Three-Step Process Adds Documents To Teleconferences

Demonstrations at TeleCon XV included a live, interactive call connecting
Polycom's booth to corporate headquarters in San Jose, CA. ShowStation
made the exchange of complex information between conference attendees and
remote participants easy. Much like an overhead projector, the ShowStation
required virtually no training to use and was fully operational in three
easy steps:

 1. Dial a remote site over standard analog telephone lines;
 2. Position the document; and
 3. Press the "Show" button.

Additional ShowStation capabilities demonstrated at TeleCon XV included the
document conferencing projector's multipoint connectivity, printing and
storage capabilities. ShowStation gives end users the ability to
"whiteboard" and annotate either paper or computer-generated images, store
those images for future use, or print them for all meeting attendees.

Conference attendees also reviewed a comprehensive display area for
Polycom's SoundStation, the world's leading conference phone. With a 75%
market share, SoundStation is in more conference rooms, in more companies,
than all competitors combined.
