QUARTERDECK ANNOUNCES UPDATED INTERNETSUITE WITH ACROBAT, NETSCAPE SUPPORT

Quarterdeck Mosaic 2.0 to support HyperText Links in Acrobat PDF files,
Netscape extensions

MARINA DEL REY, CALIF., OCTOBER 26, 1995 --- Quarterdeck Corp. (Nasdaq:
QDEK) today announced InternetSuite 2.0, an upgrade to its popular
integrated Internet application suite, featuring significant enhancements
to Quarterdeck Mosaic, the company's World-Wide Web browser. Quarterdeck
Mosaic 2.0 will support Weblink from Adobe Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: ADBE),
which allows Web page publishers to build hypertext links into an Adobe
Portable Document Format (PDF) file. Quarterdeck Mosaic 2.0 will also
support Netscape Navigator- specific formatting and page layout, such as
tables and text flow, and Netscape's security protocol, the Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL).

"Up to now, Web publishers were limited in how they could display data on a
web page. By building PDF support into our browser, users will be able to
access much more rich data sources that were previously impossible to
create in a standard HTML pages," said Emerick Woods, vice president and
general manager of the Internet business unit at Quarterdeck. "By adding
PDF and Netscape support, Quarterdeck Mosaic and InternetSuite become the
most complete and user-friendly solution of all the Internet browsers."

Quarterdeck will implement support for "AMBER" technology in several steps.
First, the Quarterdeck web browser for Macintosh and Windows will support
the Acrobat Weblink tool, a feature in Acrobat software that enables PDF
files to contain hypertext links to any other supported file type on the
World Wide Web. Quarterdeck will then develop a future version of its
browser that will seamlessly view documents in PDF. Additional integration
efforts will include work on Quarterdeck server software to provide quick
access to PDF documents across the Internet by allowing users to retrieve
and view only the pages desired in any given document.

"Web publishers can only go so far in building a page of text broken up by
the occasional graphic. With PDF documents, pages will support multiple
columns, text wrapping, and other formatting techniques unavailable to Web
publishers up till now," said Kevin Wandryk, director of business
development at Adobe Systems.

In addition to the new browser, InternetSuite 2.0 will include new features
to the Message Center news and mail reader, including MIME, searching for
text strings through the newsgroups, and a smut filter for parents to
filter out obscene materials. InternetSuite also comes with QFTP, for file
transfers, QTERM for telnet, and Connect and Play, which helps users
create an Internet account immediately.

With the release of InternetSuite 2.0, due before the end of this year for
Windows 3.1, Quarterdeck Mosaic will no longer be sold as a stand-alone
product. The estimated street price will be the same as the current
version, $39.95. Users can download a trial version for free through the
end of the year from Quarterdeck's home page ( http://www.quarterdeck.com
). The trial version of Quarterdeck Mosaic works for 30 days. After that,
the user can call Quarterdeck for a key to unlock the browser, at a cost
of $19.95.
