Sybase to Co-Host Third Annual International Sybase User Group European
Conference

Best Selling Author, Ray Bradbury, to make a Special Appearance at User
Conference.

LONDON, United Kingdom, September 26, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., The Enterprise
Client/Server Company, today announced it will co-host the 1995
International Sybase User Group European Conference, a four- day event to
be held October 8-11, 1995, at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in
London, United Kingdom. The conference, co- sponsored by the International
Sybase User Group (ISUG), will feature presentations by top Sybase
executives, industry experts and Sybase customers about client/server
technology issues vital to both developers and users in the evolving
global enterprise.

Additionally, there will be more than 50 exhibitors demonstrating Sybase
solutions at the Client/Server Technology Exposition including corporate
sponsors: AT&T Global Information Solutions, BMC Software, Business
Objects, Cognos, Data General, EMC FPO, IBM Corporation, International
Sybase User Group, Platinum, Silicon Graphics, Inc., and Sun Microsystems,
Inc.

This years conference theme, The Enterprise at Work focuses on the many
ways in which Sybase's client/server technology benefits customers
throughout their organization and beyond. For the first time under one
roof, European users will have the opportunity to learn about and see
demonstrations of Sybase products, including Powersoft and Watcom
products. These products, combined with Sybase's database server,
interoperability and new media products offer client/server users the most
complete architecture in the four primary markets of distributed on-line
transaction processing, data warehousing, mass deployment and electronic
commerce.

Industry Leaders, Users, and Sybase Executives Speak Out at European User
Conference.

Ray Bradbury, one of the most prolific and best-selling science fiction
writers of the 20th century, whose best known works includes "The Martian
Chronicles" and "Farenheit 451" will be making a special presentation to
conference attendees. Ray Bradbury's work evokes the themes of technology,
censorship, humanistic values, and the importance of imagination.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to see Sybase CEO and
president, Mark Hoffman, and the vice president of products, Dennis McEvoy
being interviewed by TV host, Sarah Cameron, on the topic of Sybase's
business and product direction. Executive presentations and technology
demonstrations will be made throughout the conference on topics such as
Sybase's vision of the future, European industry trends, and Sybase
product news:

Bob Epstein, Sybase executive vice president, will present a strategic
overview of Sybases product strategy and vision of the company's
direction.

Dennis McEvoy, vice president of products at Sybase, will provide an update
on System 11, focusing on SQL Server 11 technical development, quality
control standards, and product capabilities. System 11 is the next major
release of Sybase's core product family, which includes SQL Server 11,
Sybase MPP, Sybase IQ and SQL Anywhere.

Mike Forster, president, Sybase InformationCONNECT Division, will talk
about data warehousing, and present new information on Sybase IQ, an
interactive querying product that offers breakthrough performance for data
warehousing. In addition, users will meet Sybase's Warehouse WORKS
partners, including Brio technologies, Business Objects, Dun & Bradstreet,
HP, Platinum, and Siemens Nixdorf.

Guy Dubois, Sybase's vice president of European Operations, will talk about
how Sybase's European organization is evolving to create an integrated,
pan-European organization, fueled by a stronger understanding of the
unique requirements of Sybase's European customers and partners.

In addition, presentations will be made by Yvonne Donohoe, BP Exploration;
Dr. Eric Schmidt, Sun Microsystems, and Daniel Kenyon, president,
International Sybase User Group.

Sybase to Demonstrate a Full Range of Products at User Conference

Users will meet face to face with Sybase engineers and product managers who
will be on hand to demonstrate and answer detailed product questions. Some
of the Sybase products being demonstrated are:

* Server: SQL Server, Sybase MPP, SQL Anywhere, Backup Server
* Interoperability: OmniCONNECT, Replication Server, Sybase IQ
* Tools: S-Designor for Powerbuilder, Powerbuilder Enterprise,
  Watcom C/C++ 10.5
* New Media: New Media Studio, Sybase Interplay, Intermedia Server.

Sybase will also demonstrate beta versions of its high-performance server
software including Sybase IQ running on a SunSPARC server, and Sybase MPP
on the IBM/RS600 SP, Hewlett-Packard, and Sun SPARC platforms.

Sybase IQ is an extension of SQL Server that can enable customers to find
data up to 100 times faster than a standard relational database. Customers
will be able to receive rapid responses to ad hoc queries using their
existing hardware platforms. The Sybase IQ indexing technology extends the
power of data warehousing solutions to a broader range of users for whom
it was previously cost-prohibitive. Sybase IQ is currently in beta, and is
currently scheduled be generally available in the fourth quarter of 1995

Sybase MPP, a high-end parallel relational database, based on Sybase's SQL
Server, was designed for growth, manageability, and performance on open
systems computing platforms. Sybase MPP has been shipping on AT&T
platforms since December 1994, and will be generally available on
additional platforms in the first quarter of 1996.
