SYBASE WAREHOUSE WORKS SUPPORTS PYRAMID TECHNOLOGY AND SIEMENS NIXDORF FOR
WORLDWIDE DATA WAREHOUSE SOLUTION

Sybase Supports "Smart Warehouse" Solution with Software, Services, and
Partnerships

EMERYVILLE, CA, September 18, 1995 -- Sybase, Inc., The Enterprise
Client/Server Company today announced its support of Smart Warehouse, a
comprehensive worldwide data warehouse solution from Pyramid Technology
and parent company Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme AG (SNI). Smart
Warehouse, which was also announced today, is designed to offer customers
a low-risk development approach to building data warehouse solutions.
Sybase is supporting Smart Warehouse through Warehouse WORKS, Sybase's
data warehouse solution, which provides software, services, and
partnerships with over 50 of the industry's leading data warehouse vendors
for a complete and open data warehouse solution.

As leaders in scalable UNIX enterprise servers, Pyramid/SNI developed Smart
Warehouse to provide their joint customers with a complete data warehouse
solution. By teaming with Sybase and its Warehouse WORKS solution,
Pyramid/SNI customers can now take advantage of the industry's largest
selection of data warehousing hardware, software, and consulting services.
Sybase's experience in data warehouse development offers Smart Warehouse
customers valuable assistance for recognizing the potential return on
investment and proof of system functionality prior to full investment.

"We believe that the Pyramid/SNI Smart Warehouse program is exactly what
our customers want-a services-led solution that leverages some of the best
technologies available in the marketplace," said Mike Forster, president
of Sybase InformationCONNECT Division. "Sybase Warehouse WORKS, which has
been strongly adopted by Pyramid/SNI and over 50 other partners, provides
a powerful solution for interactive data warehouse applications,
leveraging Sybase's proven middleware solutions to deliver interactive
information to users' desktops."

"Sybase's open-architecture approach to data warehousing through Warehouse
WORKS provides our customers with an open solution for easily integrating
best-of-breed hardware, software, and services from both Sybase,
Pyramid/SNI, and our mutual partners,' said Boyd Pearce, Pyramid's vice
president of marketing. "Furthermore, both companies are closely aligned
and complement each other's data warehouse solutions by having partnered
with many of the same data warehouse solution providers."

"With Sybase's support of the Smart Warehouse program, Pyramid/SNI can
offer a total data warehouse solution from the desktop to the mainframe
and large SMP/MPP platforms found in the data center," said Moos Bulder,
marketing director for SNI's Line of Business Midrange. "The joint efforts
of Sybase and Pyramid/SNI will allow our customers to realize the maximum
potential for their data warehouse requirements."

Smart Start Program

Sybase Warehouse WORKS will be used by Smart Warehouse customers under the
Smart Start program. Smart Start is a key component under Pyramid/SNI's
Smart Warehouse solution. Comprised of a three-phase design and
implementation methodology, Smart Start limits up-front investment and
provides customers clear exit points at the end of each phase. The
program's three phases are: project definition, the pilot project, and
production implementation. Each phase includes clearly defined
deliverables. It is anticipated that after going through the first two
steps, the customer will realize the benefits outlined in the plan and
will be achieving ROI by the completion of the final phase.
