NEW DECISIONS, DECISIONS TITLE TEACHES STUDENTS ABOUT THE DANGERS OF
DRINKING AND DRIVING

WATERTOWN, MA, October 16, 1995 -- Tom Snyder Productions has just released
Decisions, Decisions: Drinking & Driving, the latest title in the
award-winning Decisions, Decisions series. The program combines
role-playing, critical thinking, and cooperative learning to show students
in grades 6-12 how practicing good judgment can keep them safe in
potentially dangerous drinking and driving situations, and to motivate
them to not drink and drive.

Decisions, Decisions: Drinking & Driving, which is the product of a
collaboration between Tom Snyder Productions and the Stanford Center for
Research in Disease Prevention, costs $149.95 for a One-Computer License
and $499.95 for a Site License. It is available for Macintosh and MS-DOS
computers. The product includes a Teacher's Guide with detailed lesson
plans, 28 Student Reference Books, and reproducible worksheets.

Decisions, Decisions: Drinking & Driving presents three separate, but
interrelated simulations that put students in the middle of controversies
dealing with the issue of drinking and driving. In the first scenario,
students are riding in a car driven by a friend who has been drinking.
They need to-decide how to get out of the car, how to get their friend to
stop driving, and how they can prevent this from happening in the future.

In the second scenario, students throw a small party for some friends.
Other kids show up with alcohol, and the students have to decide how to
prevent them from drinking and driving and determine if this is even their
responsibility. In the third scenario, students are coping with the loss
of a friend, Sophia, who was killed in an alcohol-related car crash. After
several months, some of their friends decide they should do something
positive in her memory, while others think it's best to forget about the
tragedy. Students need to decide what should be done and how their actions
can have a positive impact on others.

Supported by four advisors-an emergency room doctor, a police officer, a
group of friends, and a group of parents-students tackle these tough
situations. Along the way they confront peer pressure, and learn about
motor vehicle safety, the importance of wearing seat belts, drinking and
driving, responsible behavior, and other related issues.

Decisions, Decisions: Drinking & Driving is the thirteenth title in the
Decisions, Decisions series. Other titles include: Violence in the Media,
The Environment, Foreign Policy, Urbanization, Immigration, Colonization,
Revolutionary Wars, On the Campaign Trail, Balancing the Budget,
Prejudice, Substance Abuse, and AIDS. Titles in the series have won
numerous awards including the Technology & Learning Award of Excellence.
