TELEBIT AND XIRCOM TEAM TO INTEGRATE DIGITAL MODEM AND PRIMARY RATE ISDN
TECHNOLOGY FOR ISA-BASED PERSONAL COMPUTERS

Xircom First Participant in Telebit's MICA Developer Program

ATLANTA, Ga. -- September 27, 1995 -- Telebit Corp. and Xircom, Inc. today
announced an agreement to blend Telebit digital modem technology with
Xircom Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) solutions for maximum
flexibility over wide-area networks (WANs). The initial products from this
agreement are currently planned for introduction in the first quarter of
1996. They include a high-density digital modem and Primary Rate ISDN
(PRI) add-in card set designed for personal computers based on the
Industry Standard Architecture (ISA) bus, the industry's most popular
computer architecture.

These ISA digital modem boards -- each with up to 30 on-board modems --
when coupled with a Xircom ISDN board, will embody Telebit's Modem ISDN
Channel Aggregation, or MICA(tm), design. The MICA architecture will merge
analog and digital technology into products capable of answering and
originating both analog modem and digital ISDN telephone data calls. One
Xircom dual PRI board combined with two Telebit digital modem boards will
form a set of ISA add-in cards capable of providing any combination of 46
ISDN B channels and 48 modems when used with the North American T1
standard, and 60 ISDN B channels and 60 modems when used with the European
E1 standard.

"Network managers looking to implement remote access solutions realize the
need to support both their ISDN and modem users," said Michael K. Ballard,
Telebit's executive vice president of marketing. "MICA technology,
embedded in the Telebit-Xircom card set, will allow for the simultaneous
support of both analog modem and digital ISDN remote access users, all on
the same equipment. MICA solutions deliver the highest density and lowest
price per port for the remote access products that incorporate them."

Xircom becomes the first participant in Telebit's new MICA Developer
Program. This program is designed to equip third-party manufacturers of
Primary Rate and Basic Rate ISDN products with Telebit resources and
technical expertise to develop digital communications solutions using the
MICA architecture. Telebit will make available to MICA Developer Program
participants the company's digital modem technology on PC boards and
miniature six-modem modules.

"Xircom is delighted to support Telebit's effort by providing third-party
vendors who are developing remote access solutions with a mature ISDN
product option," said Dirk Gates, president and chief executive officer at
Xircom. "Integrating Xircom's feature- rich ISDN PRI card and Instant
ISDN(r) software with Telebit's innovative digital modem will provide
customers with an efficient solution for all their switched remote access
requirements."

"As we announced earlier this year, Telebit is advancing the development of
digital modem technology and intends to make it available to key players
in the remote access industry," said Ballard. "We welcome Xircom and its
family of mature ISDN products as our first partner in the MICA Developer
Program."

Third parties interested in participating in the MICA Developer Program
