Zenith Data Systems adds 100 MHz Pentium systems and drops prices on all
Z-STATION VP desktops

VALUE-PRICED LINE OFFERS EVEN MORE AFFORDABLE OPTIONS For Immediate
Release

BUFFALO GROVE, ILL. -- October 2, 1995 -- Zenith Data Systems (ZDS)
announced today the addition of aggressively-priced 100 MHz Pentium
configurations to the Z-STATION VP family of affordable desktops, which is
now shipping preloaded with either Windows 95 or Windows for Workgroups. A
competitive four to nine percent reduction across the value-priced line
was also issued, dropping the price of a 90 MHz Pentium system with 8MB
RAM and an 850MB HDD to just under $1, 900 (*). "The new 100 MHz Pentium
systems within our leading price- performance desktop series give our
customers a tremendous opportunity to step up to improved performance
without blowing their budget," said Jeff Loebbaka, senior director of
desktop product marketing at ZDS. " 'Economical' no longer connotes
compromise in the desktop arena -- the value of our Z-STATION VPs keeps
going up, and the prices keep going down."

The new 100 MHz Pentium Z-STATION VP with 256K cache and 1MB DRAM is
available now in a variety of configurations through Zenith Data Systems
authorized resellers. A system pre-installed with Windows 95, a 4x CD-ROM,
speakers, microphone, an 850MB hard disk drive and 16MB RAM in a desktop
cabinet featuring five open slots and four open bays is value priced at
$2,622 (*). The same configuration 100 MHz Pentium Z-STATION VP with a
1.2GB HDD in a mini-tower cabinet with six open slots and eight open bays
is offered for $2,761 (*). A desktop model 100 MHz Z-STATION VP with
MS-DOS, Windows for Workgroups, an 850MB HDD and 8MB RAM is only $1,951
(*). With the same configuration in a mini-tower cabinet with 16MB RAM and
a 1.2GB HDD, the price is $2,474 (*).

POPULAR PRICES CONTINUE DOWNWARD TREND

Zenith Data Systems' ongoing competitive pricing strategy in the desktop
market skimmed another four to nine percent off the popularly- priced
Z-STATION VP line. A Windows 95 configuration of the 90 MHz Pentium
Z-STATION VP that includes 256K cache, 16MB RAM, 1MB DRAM, an 850MB hard
disk, a 4x CD-ROM drive, audio and speakers in a standard desktop cabinet
with five open slots and four open bays has been reduced from $2,794 (*)
to $2,555 (*). A Windows 95 configuration of the Z-STATION VP Pentium 75
MHz with 256K cache, 8MB RAM, 1MB DRAM and a 540MB HDD in a desktop
cabinet has dropped from $1,585 (*) to a highly-competitive $1,506 (*).
The same configuration with twice the RAM (16MB), an 850MB HDD and a 4x
CD-ROM drive is now $2, 135 (*), down from $2,215 (*).

to hundreds of system information attributes provided via the
DMI-ready standard which all ZDS desktop PCS support.

ZDS EZ-Companion Product Recovery CD-ROM -- allows for fast and
easy installation or re-installation of software applications
and Windows 95 from one convenient, preloaded CD-ROM rather than
 dozens of diskettes.

A Windows 95 Tutor CD-ROM -- demonstrates the basics and trains
users on the efficient use of Windows 95.

Symantec Norton Navigator and Norton Anti-Virus programs specifically-
 designed for Windows 95.

Triton CoSession for Windows remote host software.

A special version of Netscape Internet browsing software with
 LAN and dial-up access support.

In Windows for Workgroups configurations, the price of a 90 MHz Pentium
system with 256K cache, 8MB RAM, 1MB DRAM and an 850MB HDD in a desktop
cabinet went from $2,073 (*) to $1,844 (*). The same configuration with a
1.2GB hard drive in a mini-tower cabinet is now $2,023 (*), down from
$2,212 (*).

The price of a Windows for Workgroups 75 MHz Pentium system with 256K
cache, 8MB RAM, 1MB DRAM and a 540MB HDD in a desktop cabinet was reduced
from $1,585 (*) to $1,506 (*). The same configuration with a 4x CD-ROM
drive, speakers and microphone is now $1,793 (*), down from $1,872 (*). A
non-multimedia system with an 850MB hard drive in a mini-tower cabinet has
a new price of $1,633 (*), lowered from its previous price of $1,712 (*).

The already economical Z-STATION VP 486 DX4/100 MHz model with a 540MB hard
drive, 8MB RAM and 1MB video DRAM in a standard desktop cabinet now sells
for $1,390 (*) instead of $1,463 (*). The 486 DX2/66 MHz configuration of
that model is now $1,220 (*), down from $1,280 (*).

All Windows for Workgroups Z-STATION VP systems come with MS-DOS, Windows
for Workgroups, PC Tools and Netscape Internet browser software with both
LAN and dial-up support. "These price drops can represent a significant
savings for institutional customers in business, education, state and
local government looking to expand their network, or small businesses just
starting a workgroup," said Loebbaka. "The Z-STATION VP is also a popular
buy for individuals who need ultimate flexibility for a rock-bottom price.
We are confident these competitive price cuts will be well-received by all
of our customers!"

OPTIMIZED FOR PERFORMANCE AND THE FUTURE

The Z-STATION VP family is designed for efficient performance with either
Pentium or 486 DX processor configurations. The value-priced desktops
feature PCI local bus, 64-bit video graphics accelerator support, plus
enhanced IDE drives and controllers for optimized speed and power. "The
Z-STATION VP offers technologies and performance features rarely found in
value-priced desktops," commented Loebbaka. "What's more, Zenith Data
Systems recognizes that investment protection is as important to our
customers at this price point as it is for buyers of our high-end top
performance Z-STATION GT systems, so we've designed the Z-STATION VP with
an eye towards tomorrow."

Configured to take full advantage of the latest application breakthroughs,
all Z-STATION VP systems are Windows 95 certified, support Plug and Play
technology, comply with DDC1 for automatic synchronization to optimal
video refresh rates, and are Desktop Management Interface (DMI) ready to
simplify system hardware and software management. In addition to being
prepared for the latest technology, Z-STATION VP desktops are ready to
adapt to users' changing needs. Investment protection is also found in the
flexibility and expandability the systems offer, with numerous open slots
and bays for network cards and data/fax modems, Sound Blaster and video
cards, quad-speed CD- ROM drives and tape backups. "Z-STATION VP buyers
can rest assured that the great value they are getting today is going to
continue to serve them well into the future," said Loebbaka. "Easy
installation and setup make it a snap to keep the system up to date and
growing as the industry evolves and users' needs change."
