MICROSOFT NAMES ZSCRIPT AS PREFERRED POSTSCRIPT FOR WINDOWS PRINTING
SYSTEM

Zenographics Also Signs Agreement to Supply Software Printing Technology to
Microsoft for the Windows Printing System

(IRVINE, CA)--Zenographics Inc., the leader in Windows printing and graphic
enhancement software, has announced a two-part agreement with Microsoft
Corporation. The agreement calls for Microsoft to recommend Zenographics'
ZScript PostScript utility as the preferred printing solution for
Host-based Windows Printing System (WPS), as well as to supply Microsoft
with Zenographics proprietary printing technology.

ZScript, Zenographics 32-bit PostScript interpreter, has been selected as
the recommended PostScript emulator for Microsoft's WPS. ZScript, a
Microsoft Windows application, is designed to provide unprecedented speed,
connectivity and flexibility for PostScript users on non-PostScript
printers.

In addition, Zenographics has been chosen to supply software printing
technology to Microsoft. This printing technology generates halftone
threshold arrays to be used in Microsoft's Windows Printing System.
Zenographics printing technology allows Microsoft's Windows Printing
System to create specific halftone bitmaps in various threshold array
configurations. Windows Printing System users will have a variety of new
halftoning options as a result of Zenographics printing technology.

"Microsoft is proud to announce the immediate availability of PostScript
emulation for Microsoft's Host-based Windows Printing System," stated Dan
Steele, Microsoft's general manager of the Windows Printing Group.

"We are extremely excited about forming this marketing and technology
relationship with Microsoft," noted Lane Freestone, vice president of
business development for Zenographics. "Microsoft's Printer OEMs now will
be able to add Microsoft-recommended PostScript support to the Windows
Printing System. This will be an inexpensive way for Microsoft's Printer
OEMs to deliver high-performance PostScript processing to their customer
base."

ZScript allows PostScript files to be read and printed on non-PostScript
printers using the same 32-bit technology included in Zenographics
SuperPrint and SuperQueue. ZScript translates PostScript files into GDI
and manages the print queue, making any Windows device or driver
PostScript-compatible as well as eliminating network printing
bottlenecks.

Zenographics has been a market leader in printing enhancement and graphics
technology since 1979. The product line also includes SuperQueue, an
advanced print spooler and SuperPrint 4.0 a 32-bit printing utility for
Windows 95 and NT. Zenographics products are currently available through
major software chains, including Egghead Software, Electronics Boutique
and Computer City. Zenographics products also are available world wide
through distributors such as Ingram Micro and Micro Central, as well as
through numerous VARs.
