                   The Probert E-Text Encyclopaedia

How To Use This HTML E-Text

If you have never encountered an HTML format document before, you will
need to obtain an HTML viewer, also known as a "web browser". I
recommend Netscape Navigator for this document, on the basis that at
the time of writing Microsoft Internet Explorer exhibits problems with
displaying the pages. Other viewers may also be used, but each will
present the document in a slightly different manner.

Exactly how the document will be presented to you depends upon the
settings of your HTML viewer, and display card. This document has been
reviewed in 800x600 and 1024x768 resolution modes, but viewing in
resolutions less than 800x600 is not advised. The document does
contain some formatting instructions, and for best results you should
allow the document to choose its own colours. However, the choice of
display font and size is a matter of personal taste. On a PC running
Netscape Navigator, in a resolution of 1024 x 768 I advise a Times
Roman font in 14 pixels height for the "proportional font".

The Probert Encyclopaedia is divided into thirteen category sections and
provided with a general index. Each section has an index to items
contained within that section, and each article has links to other
related articles both within the current category and other
categories.

If you know the article you wish to reference, and which category it
falls under, select the appropriate category, and using the category
index select the desired article.

If you know the article, but not the category, select the general
index and select the article from there.
