  PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
  =====================

Two word description :- Steam Tables

  One line description :-
Physical properties of ice, water and steam in all popular units.

  Short Description :-
Data for 15 fixed and 17 variable properties for ice, water and steam
from -100 C to 800 C and up to 1000 bar. Has context sensitive,
       on-line Help. User selectable units.

  Full Description :-
Water and Steam Properties replaces printed Steam Tables, but it goes
further by providing a much wider set of properties, it eliminates the
need for interpolating between data points, and it works in all the
generally accepted units. It will find the conditions that give known
values of enthalpy, entropy or density. There is context sensitive,
on-line Help available at all times.

It gives 15 point properties, and 17 temperature and pressure
dependent properties for ice, water and steam. Most of the
correlations cover the range from -100 C to 800 C and up to 1000
bar. Calculated data points match published data very closely.

Please ensure that all these files are included whenever you pass
copies of WASP on to others.

If you compress the files into an archive for distribution or for
posting to a BBS please name the archive "WASP" + "version number",
eg WASP121.ZIP. (The archive file extension will of course change if
you use a different archiving utility.)

  INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
  =========================
Your first step should be to make a copy of your distribution disk.
Do not use your distribution disk as a working disk. If your
distribution disk is a 5.25 inch floppy, write protect it by putting a
tab over the notch in the side of the disk. If it is a 3.5 inch
stiffy disk write protect it by sliding the plastic button in the
corner to open the hole. Take an unused disk of the same size as your
distribution disk, label it as your working disk and make sure it is
NOT write protected. If you have identical A and B drives insert the
distribution disk in Drive A and the working disk in Drive B. Type
DISKCOPY A: B: and press <ENTER>. If your A and B drives are not the
same (or you do not have a Drive B) type DISKCOPY A: A: and press
<ENTER>, and then follow the instructions on the screen to swap disks
using the distribution disk as the SOURCE disk and the working disk as
       the TARGET disk.

The installation procedure for WASP will depend on whether the disk
you received contains the files listed above as individual files, or
combined into an archive file. Distributors often compress packages
into archives to allow more software to be put on a disk. Put the
working disk into Drive A: and type DIR A: and press <ENTER>. If the
disk does not have all the files listed above, but instead contains
the file WASP121.ZIP or WASP121.ARC (or some similar name) please
follow the distributor's instructions to un-archive the files.

If the working disk contains all the files listed above WASP can be
run directly from the floppy or stiffy disk. Insert the disk into the
drive, log onto that drive (eg A: or B:) and then follow the
instructions in the box at the beginning of this file.

To install WASP on your hard disk all you have to do is copy all the
files on the distribution disk into a new sub-directory. To create a
new sub-directory on your hard drive follow these steps :-

       1) Ensure that you are at the DOS prompt, ie display shows C:\>
(if your hard drive is drive D display shows D:\> , etc)
       2) If you want the new sub-directory to be off the root directory
type CD\ and press <ENTER>. If you prefer the new sub-directory
to be off some other directory change to that directory.
       3) Type MD WASP and press <ENTER>.
       4) Type CD WASP and press <ENTER>. Display should show C:\WASP>.

If your distribution disk contains all the files in the LIST OF FILES
above, insert it into the A drive and type COPY A:*.* and press
<ENTER>. The programme is then ready to run. If your distribution
disk does not contain all the files listed above, but instead contains
the archive file WASP121.ZIP or WASP121.ARC (or some similar name)
copy that file to the new sub-directory (eg COPY A:WASP121.ZIP).
Then follow the distributor's instructions to un-archive the files.

  DETAILED INSTRUCTION MANUAL
  ===========================
The detailed instruction manual for WASP is included on the
distribution disk in the form of a text file called WASPBOOK.DOC. It
contains only standard ASCII characters and should print successfully
       on any printer.

To make a hard copy of the manual you should set your printer up to
use a 10 cpi font (most printers default to this at startup) and from
the WASP sub-directory type PRINT WASPBOOK.DOC and then press <ENTER>.
An easier method to make a copy of the manual is by running the WASP
programme and pressing <Alt P> at the opening screen. The manual
       contains about 32 pages.

  REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
  =========================
WASP is distributed as Shareware. This means you are free to use this
copy of WASP for a few weeks to determine its value and usefulness to
you. Only if you find WASP to be worth the asking price do you
register and pay. If WASP does not meet your needs or standards then
it costs you nothing and you can reformat the distribution disk and
use it for something else (or preferably pass it on to someone who may
find it useful !). The manual and the on-line help screens contain
more details on shareware for those new to this system of software
       distribution.

WASP can be bought either as a single-user system for US$ 40.00 or as
a multi-user site licence for US$ 75.00 (or the equivalents in SA
       Rands).

When you register you can pay by credit card, cheque, or via
CompuServe. Full details of the registration process are included in
the manual and within the programme. The easiest way to complete the
registration form is to run WASP and press <Alt R> at the Shareware
       Distribution screen.

Registered users are entitled to 12 months support by mail or
CompuServe email. Katmar Software is a member of the Association of
Shareware Professionals (ASP) and users have rights in terms of the
ASP rules. See the file OMBUDSMN.ASP and the section on Support in
       the manual for full details.

  SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTORS
  ======================
We are most grateful to the distributors of shareware who help us to
get WASP widely known. Any bona fide distributor of shareware
(including disk distributors, BBS operators, computer clubs, magazines
on or enclosing disks and CD-ROM manufacturers) are welcome to include
WASP in their range, subject to the following requirements :-

       - The package must include all the files listed in this document.
If they are compressed into an archive please use the naming
convention given with the list of files above.

       - None of the files listed above may be modified in any way.
(Except to add a "Supplied by 'XYZ Company'" notice at the end of
            the README or WASPBOOK.DOC files.)

       - You are welcome to add other files for the purposes of providing
a menu or automatic archive extraction, or to identify yourself
            as the distributor.

       - WASP may be included on a disk with any other product, provided
that it is made clear that any payment for that other product is
            not for WASP.

       - No price or other compensation may be charged for WASP. A charge
up to US$ 10-00 plus postage may be made for the evaluation disk.

       - Any advertisements, catalogues or other literature must point out
that shareware requires separate payment to the author if regular
use is made of the product.

       - We would like distributors to have the most up to date versions.
If you include WASP in your catalogue send us a photocopy of the
relevant page (or a printout of the relevant section of a disk
based catalogue) and we will keep you supplied with the latest
versions. Full printed or disk based catalogues are of course
most welcome in the place of photocopies. ASP Vendors and BBS
operators will automatically receive updates via the CD-ROM
            mailings.
