           Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q. Where was QuickField originated?

A. The Students' QuickField was formerly known as ELCUT, and
QuickField is the name of the more powerful professional
version. Now we've decided to enhance this low-cost
shareware with a full set of features contained in the
professional QuickField. Now the only difference between
our students' and professional versions is the mesh nodes
   limit.

Q. Where the latest release of Students' QuickField could be
   downloaded from?

A. Students' QuickField is originally supported at three
worldwide-known FTP sites: SimTel, Mathematics Archives
   and Garbo.
At SimTel Software Repository (available by anonymous FTP
from its primary mirror site Oak.Oakland.Edu):
          /pub/msdos/plot/qfld32-[1-4].zip
   At the Mathematics Archives (archives.math.utk.edu):
          /msdos/numerical.partial.diff.eq/qfld32-[1-4].zip
   At Garbo (garbo.uwasa.fi):
          /pc/science/qfld32-[1-4].zip

Q. Does QuickField require Microsoft Windows?

A. QuickField is supported by its own interface library, and
doesn't require Windows to run. However, it can be run
within Windows as a DOS application, and corresponding
files QFIELD.PIF and QFIELD.ICO are included into the
   shareware kit.

Q. What about the more powerful version you mention?

A. Professional (100,000 nodes) version is available, but it
is not shareware. It handles a very dense mesh, which
enables you to obtain accurate results for sophisticated
design models. All the other features are the same as
this Students' version. We are ready to provide you with
further details--just contact us by e-mail, phone or fax.
You may also order the one month evaluation copy right
now--see REG_FORM.TXT for details (special license
   agreement is needed).

Q. Which are the directions of further QuickField
   development?

A. Now, we're adding several enhancements to our modeling
capabilities such as introduction of polar coordinate
systems. Furthermore, we're incorporating the time-
harmonic eddy currents analysis into QuickField. We are
always interested in your advice and comments, and are
open to your suggestions and criticism.
