New Matrox/Digital OEM Agreement Combines Fastest Graphics Engine with
Fastest Microprocessor For Windows NT

June 24, 1993 -- Montreal, Quebec-- Matrox is proud to announce its
agreement with Digital Equipment Corporation to combine the high-end
version of Digital's new DECpc AXP 150 series of personal computers (based
on the Alpha AXP RISC chip running at 150 MHz) with the Matrox MGA Ultima
graphics accelerator (based on Matrox's own 64-bit graphics chip).

"The DECpc AXP 150 personal computer combined with the Matrox MCA Ultima 2
Mbyte AT bus version offers the ultimate speed and productivity enhancing
features to application developers, early implementors and power users,"
says Dennis Schneider, Director, Windows NT Marketing, Digital
Equipment..

The MGA Series of graphics accelerators is based on Matrox's proprietary
MGA chip -- the only 64-bit graphics chip available today. The MGA chip
takes advantage of VRAM's "block-write" capabilities to offer up to 12
times more hardware speed than traditional 32-bit technology. MGA
eliminates the bottleneck typical of 32-bit graphics engines by widening
the path which information travels from the graphics engine to video
memory. "The DECpc AXP 150 PC combined with the Matrox MGA Ultima graphics
accelerator running Windows NT creates the fastest PC in the industry"
says Lome Tottier, President of Matrox. In addition to application
developers, PC Power Users of applications like financial modeling,
high-end graphics, complex spreadsheets and databases are expected to be
among the early adopters.

The DECpc AXP 150 includes a six-slot, industry standard EISA bus and the
familiar Windows look, feel and ease-of-use but delivers the speed of a
supercomputer. The developer's configuration of the DECpc SXP 150 includes
Windows NT Beta 2.0 software, 32 Mbytes of main memory, 16" SVGA color
monitor, 426 Mbyte SCSI disk drive, a 600 Mbyte CD-ROM drive, 3.5" floppy
disk drive, an Ethernet adapter card, two serial and one parallel port,
mouse and keyboard.

The DECpc AXP 150 combined with the Matrox MGA Ultima is targeted for
availability with the shipping of Windows NT.
