EDS SELECTS HARVARD GRAPHICS AND SUPERBASE FOR NEW SUITE OFFERED TO U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 24, 1993 -- Software Publishing Corporation today
announced that two of its strategic products, Harvard Graphics for Windows
and Superbase, are part of a new five-product suite being offered to the
Army, Defense Logistics Agency, Marine Corps, National Guard, Navy and
Reserves. The suite, called Power Pack and offered by Electronic Data
Systems Corporation (EDS) under the Small Multiuser Computer (SMC)
contract, consists of Harvard Graphics for Windows, Superbase, Word
Perfect 5.2, Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Organizer. The all-Windows Power Pack
suite is being sold for $339.

"SMC is offering these new products to ensure that the Department of
Defense (DoD) community has the opportunity to take advantage of the most
advanced technologies available," said Kim Luke, SMC program manager for
EDS. "Harvard Graphics for Windows and Superbase were selected as a result
of an EDS/SMC team that studied quantifiable values delivered to
prospective users. We are offering these products because they will help
facilitate DoD's move to more Windows-based applications."

Harvard Graphics for Windows was added to the EDS/SMC product line because
it offers users a very extensive selection of presentation styles,
templates and fonts. The product offers 54 pre-defined presentation
styles, and supports 16 million colors. "We found nearly 20 features
inherent to Harvard Graphics for Windows that the other presentation
graphics package we looked at did not provide," said Luke.

To give the DoD community the ability to manage large volumes of data with
the greatest speed and the most flexibility, the EDS/SMC team chose
Superbase version 2.0. "We feel that Superbase is an integral part of a
complete office automation package, " said Luke. "Superbase is a
relational database that allows users to create their own screens, and it
offers an easy-to-use scripting language. Superbase is the most powerful
of the easy-to-learn database managers and the easiest-to-learn of all
relational database managers."

"We are delighted that EDS selected Harvard Graphics for Windows and
Superbase for its SMC suite," said Chris Randles, vice president of
marketing for Software Publishing Corporation. "The problem with most
single-vendor suites is that they attempt to force users into the
manufacturer's idea of what is best for them. That is not our approach. We
develop our products following a best-of-breed strategy because we know
users want the best tools for the job. The EDS Power Pack offers users a
true inter-manufacturer best-of-breed choice, not just a suite from a
single manufacturer that contains the good, the bad and the ugly. It is
significant that when faced with providing a suite of the best available
products to the United States Department of Defense, EDS chose both of
Software Publishing Corporation's leading products."

Harvard Graphics for Windows, the market-leading presentation graphics
software package, offers powerful charting and drawing capabilities,
easy-to-use Presentation Style templates, a QuickStart tutorial, and
presentation management tools including an Outliner, Slide Editor and
Slide Sorter. Presentation delivery features include a runtime ScreenShow
projector, as well as innovative HyperShow and Launch Application
capabilities, enabling users to launch any DOS or Windows application from
within a ScreenShow. Harvard Graphics for Windows also allows users to
incorporate sound, music, animation files and digital video clips into
their on-screen presentations.

Superbase version 2.0 is the proven Windows application design and
development tool for rapidly creating powerful visual database solutions.
Superbase exploits the full power of Windows, accesses dBASE, Paradox and
SQL databases, and includes visual design tools. It has an integrated
development environment using the powerful Super Basic Language, has a
high-capacity, high performance native relational database engine, and
easily manages new multimedia data types such as animation and video.

EDS has operations in more than 30 countries, employs more than 70,000
people, and is a leader in applying information technology to meet the
needs of businesses and governments around the world. The company's stock
is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol GME. Revenues
for 1992 were $8.2 billion.

Software Publishing Corporation (NASDAQ: SPCO) is an international supplier
of business productivity software for the IBM Personal Computer and
compatibles. The company currently develops and markets graphical software
solutions for accessing, analyzing and presenting information, including
the market-leading Harvard Graphics and Superbase product lines.
