Microtek Lab Introduces SnapPrint: Instant Film Printer

SnapPrint addresses need in design and imaging applications for low-cost
color proofs: output in less than one minute.

May 24, 1993, Torrance, CA--A continuous-tone color proof printer that
provides Polaroid instant prints of electronic digital images is now
available from Microtek, Lab Inc., the leading manufacturer of affordable
graphics peripherals.

The SnapPrint Instant Film Printer, Microtek's new personal proofing
system, allows design professionals to print graphic quality full-color
photographs of image files nearly twice as fast as color thermal printers,
regardless of image complexity. Coupled with Microtek's image scanning
systems, SnapPrint offers an integrated desktop image processing solution
for any application requiring 24-bit color output at a very low cost per
image.

Professionals who depend on computer-generated images, such as graphic
designers, architects, engineers, medical researchers and scientists, need
a desktop proofing system that delivers high quality photo realistic
prints that cost under one dollar per image.

Microtek's instant film printer is designed for any computer graphics
application where quality, speed and economy are important. In less than
40 seconds, SnapPrint outputs self-developing continuous-tone photo prints
with over 16 million colors. Full color saturation is fixed in 30 to 40
minutes. Retail price for SnapPrint is $1499.

"In today's cost-conscious business environment," said Woody Hale,
Microtek's vice-president of marketing and sales, "technologies that
combine cost and time savings with enhanced capabilities are absolutely
necessary. Microtek is committed to providing a cost-effective color
proofing solution that's convenient, fast, and effective."

Since toner or ink cartridges are not required, the SnapPrint Instant Film
Printer is economical and easy to maintain. Based on the Polaroid CI-700
instant film printer engine, SnapPrint uses standard Polaroid 990 High
Speed film packs or Spectra High Definition film for maximum color
saturation. SnapPrint may be combined with any of Microtek's line of
ScanMaker reflective or transparency scanners to create a full featured
proofing system, especially when it is used with the new ScanMaker 45t, a
2000 x 2000 dpi, 36-bit, multi-format film scanner.

SnapPrint works with Apple Macintosh and IBM PCs and compatibles. The
Macintosh version is shipping now and the PC version will be available
within 30 days. On the Apple Macintosh II SnapPrint requires 5MB of RAM,
System 6.0.5 or later. For IBM PCs and compatibles with 386 or higher
processors, SnapPrint requires 8MB of RAM and Windows 3.0 or higher.
