TRAKKER PRICE CUT MEANS MORE USERS CAN AFFORD SIMPLE TAPE BACKUP SOLUTION

LOVELAND, CO-May 1,1993 -- Colorado Memory Systems, Inc., the leading
supplier of quarter-inch minicartridge tape backup systems, today
announced a significant price cut on its popular Jumbo Trakker 120, a
parallel port backup system with 120 MB capacity using data compression.
Previously priced at $448, Trakker 120 will now list for $348, a 22%
reduction.

Rick Turley, Vice President of Marketing for Colorado Memory Systems,
explained that these price reductions reflect the company's objective of
bringing tape backup prices within the reach of every PC user. "With
continued growth in hard-disk capacities and the inability of diskettes to
realistically handle today's backup tasks, it's important for tape backup
to fill the gap. By passing on some of the savings we realize in
high-volume manufacturing, we're making tape backup affordable to more and
more users. As a result, we hope that fewer people will continue to play
Russian Roulette with their data."

The Trakker 120 tape backup system is a self-contained unit that plugs into
a PC's parallel printer port for backup. It was designed to fill several
backup needs. First it offers desktop and tower users a simple backup
solution that doesn't involve internal installation. Those users can also
share a Trakker drive among several computers to save on backup costs.
Trakker is also a practical solution for laptop PC backup. And anyone
servicing or modifying a PC can use Trakker as a simple way to safeguard
data before beginning work. Trakker was introduced last summer and began
shipping in September of 1992.

This announcement comes on the heels of 20% price cuts on the
market-leading Jumbo tape backup systems, which were announced earlier
this year. In that move, the Jumbo 120, with 120 MB capacity using data
compression, was reduced from $250 to $199, and the Jumbo 250, with 250 MB
compressed capacity, dropped from $350 to $279. The combination of these
price cuts gives PC users a choice of truly affordable tape backup
solutions.

Colorado Memory Systems is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hewlett-Packard

wide range of QIC-compatible tape backup systems and accessories and is
