KINGSTON TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES AGREEMENT WITH IBM ON PROCESSOR UPGRADES

New York, NY PC EXPO '93-- Kingston Technology Corporation (Fountain
Valley, Calif., USA, PC EXPO Booth # 2770), recently announced it has
signed an agreement with IBM Technology Products unit, a microelectronic
subsystem supplier, in which Kingston Technology will sell processor
upgrade products designed by Technology Products.

As a result of this agreement Kingston Technology will introduce SLC/Now!,
a family of 486 instruction set-based processor upgrade products.
Initially, Kingston Technology's SLC/Now! product family will upgrade
286-based IBM Micro Channel systems (PS/2 Models 50, 50z, and 60) to run
the 486 instruction set. The company's SLC/Now! family includes 20MHz,
25MHz and dual clock 25/50MHz processor upgrades.

"Kingston Technology's goal has always been to bring state of the art
upgrade products to the PC and workstation markets" said Steven H.
Weinberg, vice president of sales for Kingston Technology, "With our new
SLC/Now! family, incorporating the SLC technology developed by IBM and our
own distribution channel, we are able to bring to market a very
cost-effective solution for upgrading 286 based systems to 486
performance."

Weinberg continues by saying, "In testing these products with industry
benchmarks, we have seen an increase in performance 8 to 10 times over the
original 286 systems. The SLC/Now! family is a great way for users to
protect their system investment, gain increased performance, and avoid
transferring all their current software to a new system."

"Through this agreement with Kingston Technology, we continue our strategy
of teaming with companies in the information systems industry and
expanding the presence of our technology in the market," said Mike Ramada,
manager of upgrade product development for IBM's Technology Products unit.
"We are excited by the opportunity to work with a leading supplier like
Kingston Technology and look forward to the increased market coverage it
will provide."

The SLC/Now! product family runs the 486 instruction set, giving the user
the ability to run the latest personal computer software. The SLC/Now!
20MHz and 25Mhz come with 8Kb of cache memory while the dual clock
25/50MHz comes with 16Kb of cache memory. The dual clock 25/50Mhz runs at
50Mhz internally and 25Mhz externally. This dual clock upgrade is the only
upgrade in this price range that gives this type of performance.

Installation of the Kingston's SLC/Now! products is simple, requiring only
five to ten minutes. To install the upgrade, the user opens the case,
removes the existing 286 processor with the chip puller provided, installs
the SLC/Now!, closes the case, starts the system and loads the cache
memory software. In addition, SLC/Now! does not interfere with or use a
bus slot nor does it interfere with any other components or upgrades.

Kingston Technology will begin shipping the SLC/Now! line of products in
mid-April. Suggested list prices for the 20Mhz, 25Mhz, and 25/50MHz models
are, $129, $235, and $425 respectively.
