APEX DATA ADDS V.Fast SPEED TO SLIM LINE DATA/FAX PCMCIA MODEM FAMILY

28.8 bps Transmission Speed Reduces Transmission Costs

PLEASANTON, Calif. (6/27/94)----Apex Data, Inc., Pleasanton, Calif., has
added 28.8 bits-per-second V.Fast speed to its Slim Line Type ll PCMCIA
data/fax modems allowing users to double previous transmission rates,
thereby reducing associated telephone charges. Through a new chip set and
accompanying proprietary engineering advancements, Apex's Slim Line V.Fast
modems enable mobile computers users to transmit the equivalent of two
pages of business correspondence per second over phone lines.
Additionally, unlike many competitive offerings, the new Apex V.Fast line
will be compatible with the forthcoming V.34 data/fax modems when enabling
chip sets are available this Fall.

Apex's V.Fast family of Slim Line modems will be on display at PC Expo,
June 28-30, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center, New York, Booth # 971.
Available in late July from Ingram Micro, Merisel, Tech Data and other
resellers nationwide, the V.Fast Slim Line modems will retail for $499.

The Apex V.Fast Slim Line product family incorporates several advanced
communications features including host communications support from Hayes
AutoSync which enables the synchronous communications between a user and
host-based information services accessed while away from the home office.
Advanced Error Correction with v.42 protocols is also employed to ensure
safe, clear transmissions, even when the quality of the phone lines may
not equal those in the user's primary facility. Additionally, Apex
provides data compression techniques which further facilitate clear
transmission. The V.Fast Slim Line product family is compatible with most
DOS, Windows and OS/2 telecommunication and fax packages.
