Emerging Technology Changes the Way 50 Million Windows Systems Work

This year, Microsoft celebrates 50 million plus Windows users, and Blue Sky
Software improves the way these 50 million people can use the Windows Help
Engine included in each copy of Windows. Blue Sky Software introduces
Multimedia WinHelp which now includes the new WinHelp Power Add-ons.
Multimedia WinHelp extends the functionality of the standard Windows Help
Engine and makes multimedia, 256 color bitmaps and other state-of-the-art
features accessible to Windows users without needing another Help engine.
With Multimedia WinHelp, over 50 million Windows users will be able to run
sophisticated multimedia hypertext documents using the standard Windows
Help Engine on their Windows systems.

New York, PC Expo, June 28, 1994 - Blue Sky's new Multimedia WinHelp
including WinHelp Power Add-ons: WinHelp Hi-Rez, WinHelp Suitcase and,
WinHelp Finder (see below) makes Windows Help systems and electronic
hypertext documents come alive. Multimedia WinHelp includes a visual
interface called Media Styler and a .DLL which extends the functionality
of the standard Windows Help Engine. Multimedia WinHelp now integrates not
only multimedia support, but also several new advanced features which
maximizes the capabilities of the standard Windows Help engine. Users can
easily design and distribute state-of-the-art multimedia Windows Help
systems and electronic hypertext documents.

A Real Technological Breakthrough Multimedia WinHelp is the first and only
product to allow .AVI, .WAV and .BMP files to be played real time directly
out of the Help file; this is a distinct advantage since all the files can
be stored inside the Help file itself which makes wide distribution of any
innovative multimedia Help files fast and easy. The .HLP and the .DLL are
the only files that need to be distributed, either on diskette, CD-ROM or
online over the network. The .DLL can be distributed royalty-free.
Multimedia WinHelp supports .AVI files for video and .WAV for sound and
voice, and includes the Video for Windows 1.1 runtime that enables users
to run video on standard VGA screens.

New WinHelp Power Add-ons With Multimedia WinHelp, users can easily
integrate sound, voice, video, animation and "live" product tutorials into
any Windows Help system or electronic hypertext document. Multimedia
WinHelp also lets users create animation by playing a slide show/sequence
of bitmaps. WinHelp Hi-Rez allows users to display rich 256 color bitmaps,
to create textured backgrounds (ideal for adding a company logo), and to
add the popular 3-D look graphical push buttons that depress when clicked
with the mouse to any Windows Help system or electronic hypertext
document. WinHelp Finder provides a collapsible and expandable
hierarchical view of the entire Help file displayed in the main, secondary
or popup windows; this allows Help authors and end users to quickly
visualize and navigate through the entire Help file. WinHelp Suitcase
allows easy distribution of sample files through the Help file. These
sample files can be extracted from the Help file and saved on the end
user's local drive.

Targeted Users

TECHNICAL WRITERS AND SOFTWARE DEVELOPERS

Multimedia WinHelp allows technical writers and software developers to
easily design and distribute sophisticated multimedia Windows Help systems
and standalone multimedia titles. They can integrate "live" product
tutorials right inside the Help system to make applications easier to
understand. Help system authors and technical writers can use Multimedia
WinHelp standalone or in conjunction with any Windows Help Development
tool.

NON-TECHNICAL USERS

Since the Windows Help Engine is included in each copy of Windows,
non-technical users will also be interested in creating standalone
multimedia hypertext documents that can run royalty-free on 50 million PCs
without the need for another display engine. With the arrival of
Multimedia WinHelp, Windows Help may even become the standard for
multimedia titles. Blue Sky Software's products make Windows Help easy to
create: by using RoboHELP, the Ultimate Windows Help Authoring Tool, and
Multimedia WinHelp together, non-technical users now have the opportunity
to take advantage of the new additional capabilities of the Windows Help
Engine and to create sophisticated electronic hypertext documents and Help
systems with minimum effort. By just pointing and clicking, non technical
users can create multimedia titles that explains more than words alone.
Blue Sky's new products also provide an innovative way for businesses to
promote or explain their products and company, and allows publishers to
develop and easily distribute state-of-the-art electronic publications.

RoboHELP

RoboHELP 2.6 is the first Help Authoring Tool for Windows and Windows NT to
support both Word 6.0 and Word 2.0. RoboHELP's visual tool palette
provides an easy way to quickly create standard Help features such as
jumps, topics, and popup windows. RoboHELP 2.6 supports all the new
features of the Windows Help Engine, such as macros, secondary windows,
and multiple hotspot graphics. Included special VBX controls and custom
controls eliminate the need to program context sensitive Help into
applications. Error Wizard detects and explains any potential errors
before compilation. Simulation Mode allows the user to instantly test
changes without compiling. Existing Help source projects, graphics, text
and RTF files can be imported. RoboHELP 2.6 offers two-way conversion: it
automatically converts existing documentation into a Help system or
vice-versa. RoboHELP also includes the most recent Microsoft Windows Help
compilers.
