CABLETRON DEMONSTRATES INDUSTRY'S FIRST FAMILY OF FULL DUPLEX ETHERNET
DESKTOP NETWORK INTERFACE CARDS AT PC EXPO '94

E2200 Series Conforms to Plug and Play Specifications

NEW YORK -- June 28, 1994 -- Cabletron Systems (NYSE:CS) today announced it
will demonstrate at PC Expo the industry's first family of Full Duplex
Ethernet Desktop Network Interface (DNI) cards for ISA bus systems. The
company's extensive line of E2200 cards supports a wide variety of media
types and all popular operating systems including Novell, Microsoft and
IBM.

The new family of cards, with immediate availability, is one of the first
to implement the Plug and Play industry standard specifications for
automatic easy installation and system compatibility.

"Cabletron's Full Duplex cards play a vital role in migrating from a shared
access network to a switching network," said Wade Appelman, Cabletron's
product manager of desktop connectivity. "Our commitment to this migration
began with the consortium of eight major vendors to develop
interoperability of Full Duplex Ethernet products, and the E2200 series is
the next step of this commitment."

The E2200 cards, which are available in four styles for any IBM PC, can run
in Full Duplex 20 Mbps Ethernet or 10 Mbps standard Ethernet. Full Duplex
mode allows users to upgrade to a higher performance level in order to
meet the growing needs for increased bandwidth and additional users.

Cabletron's support for the growing needs of wireless network using spread
spectrum technology is included in the E221W DNI card -- which supports an
external WinData transceiver.

Each E2200 card is Bus Mastered and designed for easy installation through
software with no manual jumpers to set. With Bus Mastering, no memory
needs to be allocated in the host system or the DNI card. Data is actually
transferred in and out of Cabletron's E2200 cards through the processor on
the PC saving valuable lower PC memory for use in end user applications.

The company's E2200 cards also feature Cabletron's Quick Set software which
allows users to quickly install the DNI card into a PC that is not Plug
and Play compliant. Cabletron's E2200 series include the following:

E2210 for UTP and AUI
E2212 for UTP and Coax
E2219 for UTP only
E221W for wireless or UTP
