Corporate Image Software announces Chart Object for Lotus Notes
Version 1.2

New version includes royalty-free Chart Viewer

Boston, MA June 28, 1994 --- Corporate Image Software announces an enhanced
version of Chart Object for Lotus Notes, a tool for creating charts
directly from Lotus Notes databases. New features include a royalty-free
Chart Viewer, giving all Notes users the ability to open and manipulate
charts without purchasing the full product. Corporate Image Software also
announced that they have completed the Runs with Lotus Notes
self-certification.

Since its introduction, more than 3,200 companies and more than 750,000
people have used Lotus Notes to improve business processes. By allowing
these users to directly access and graph information in Notes databases,
Chart Object for Lotus Notes makes it easier for users to analyze this
growing source of information. Furthermore, full integration of Chart
Object into applications with OLE/2 and Notes/FX gives users seamless
access to charting power and provides the best means of communicating many
different types of information.

Eliminating complex exports to external charting tools, Chart Object for
Lotus Notes can create line charts, pie charts, 3D bar charts, stacked bar
charts, layer charts, etc. directly from the data in any Lotus Notes
database on a local computer or remote server. Users select Notes fields
used to draw the chart, and can graph either the raw data, data summarized
as totals, averages or document counts, or data modified with Notes
formulas. For example, users can graph revenue totals by month in a sales
forecasting database or the total number of documents in each category of
a customer service database.

Chart Object for Lotus Notes can use Lotus Notes selection formulas,
full-text searches and multi-valued categories to select the data used in
a chart. In addition, Chart Object is capable of using the existing views
in a Notes application as the basis for selecting and sorting the data and
for deriving the values to be charted. Once the appropriate data has been
selected, computed, organized and named by the Notes view, the chart
quickly displays this data graphically.

In addition to being a great tool for Lotus Notes users, Chart Object for
Lotus Notes also supports Notes Field Exchange (Notes/FX) so application
developers can fully integrate charts into their Notes applications. With
Notes/FX, developers can use fields in a Notes document to programatically
define and create a new chart. Users can also access information about
existing charts from within Notes. Applications can be built that use
charts as if they were simply another type of Notes document.

Jeff Papows, vice president, Notes Product Division, Lotus Development
Corp., says "Chart Object for Lotus Notes is a great example of using the
Notes/FX technology as the basis for creating add-on products to enhance
the Notes user interface. We are pleased that Corporate Image Software is
participating in the Lotus Product Certification Program." Chart Object
for Lotus Notes is one of the first products to be awarded the Runs With
Lotus Notes product self-certification.

The new royalty-free Chart Viewer utility will make it easier for
organizations to adopt Chart Object for Lotus Notes as a standard for
their Notes users and applications. Developers can incorporate charts into
strategic Notes applications, and give users the ability to open and
manipulate those charts without any additional purchase.

"Now an organization can commit to charts as a standard data type," said
Stephen Walch, President of Corporate Image Software. "Any user can put a
chart document in a Lotus Notes database with the knowledge that other
Notes users will be able to read it, even users outside the organization.
We will be using this royalty-free viewer model in future additions to our
Business Objects for Lotus Notes product line."

The current price for a single user license of Chart Object for Lotus Notes
is $495, the five-user Chart Object for Lotus Notes Group Pack costs
$1,495, and Site License Kits cost as low as $50 per seat for 500 users or
more. Chart Viewer will be included with Version 1.2 of Chart Object for
Lotus Notes, scheduled to ship with the Group Pack and Site License Kits
on July 31, 1994. Users who purchase these prior to V1.2 shipment will
receive a free upgrade.

Corporate Image Software specializes in using OLE and Notes/FX technology
to create new types of documents for Lotus Notes. Chart Object for Lotus
Notes is the first in a planned series of Business Objects for Lotus Notes
products.
