CLARIS ANNOUNCES CLARIS ORGANIZER FOR MACINTOSH

Redefines PIM category with seamless integration and breakthrough
intelligence

SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 16, 1994 -- Claris Corporation today announced
Claris Organizer, the first all-in-one, intelligent personal information
manager (PIM) for the Macintosh. Claris Organizer provides business, home
and education users with a powerful personal organization tool that
seamlessly integrates calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes in one
easy-to-use, compact application.

"Claris customers have asked us for a personal organization tool with the
award-winning integration, usability and power of ClarisWorks," said
Daniel L. Eilers, president and chief executive officer of Claris Corp.
"Claris Organizer is the ClarisWorks of PIMs, redefining the PIM category
with seamless integration and breakthrough intelligence. These features
combined with Claris ease of use make Claris Organizer the ultimate
personal organizer."

Claris Organizer is a powerful personal organization tool that enables
users to get organized quickly and easily with intelligent features such
as automatic linking, drag & drop functionality, smart find, automatic
completion, easy import/export, and robust printing. These intelligent
features allow users to benefit from electronically stored personal
information: saving time and increasing productivity. Claris Organizer
provides all these advanced features while still retaining exceptional
performance and compact size, requiring only 850K disk space and 1
megabyte (MB) of random-access memory (RAM.)

Seamless Integration

Claris Organizer takes the all-in-one approach to personal organization,
eliminating the inconvenience of learning and updating separate schedule
and contact software packages. Claris Organizer uniquely combines powerful
personal organization features, such as: appointments with week, day and
month views; scheduling with alarms, banners and recurring events;
contacts with auto-dialing and multiple fields for phone, email and fax
numbers; task lists that can be prioritized, sorted and checked off when
completed; and notes that can be linked to appointments, contacts, and to
do items. Claris Organizer seamlessly integrates all this functionality
within one easy-to-use application.

"In the growing PIM market, users are looking for the ability to quickly
use any of their information in any context, whether it be tasks,
calendars, or phonebooks," said Chris LeTocq, director of software
research, Computer Intelligence, InfoCorp. "By providing this unique level
of integration, Claris Organizer can expect to make it onto everyone's
evaluation list."

What Users Are Saying

"One of the best things about Organizer is that it is built on an engine
that has been optimized for flexibility and intelligent linking without
burdening the entire application with the size and slowness of a full
relational database," said Rosemary Mylod, project manager at Houghton
Mifflin, a Boston-based publisher of instructional products.

"Organizer's small footprint and agility make it perfect for mobile
computer users who are concerned about speed, hard disk space and RAM
consumption," she added.

According to Lee Hinde, a Sacramento, Calif.-based computer consultant and
president of MacNexus, a 1000-member Macintosh user group, "The speed of
Claris Organizer is tremendous. It's the fastest PIM I've ever used. I've
got over 1500 contacts and the search function is almost instantaneous.
And the size, an 850K footprint, that's unheard of for such a
full-featured PIM."

Breakthrough Intelligence

Claris Organizer is also distinguished from the rest of the
Macintosh PIM pack by its breakthrough intelligence, which includes:

* Automatic linking to instantly attach related information together as it
is created; for example, if a user creates a new contact, schedules a
lunch appointment, takes notes on directions to the restaurant, and
creates a task to prepare for the meeting, all this information is
automatically linked as it's created, so it's easily accessible.

* Drag & drop flexibility allowing users to quickly and easily move and
link information from one environment to another; for example, to create
the task, "call Mike," simply drag Mike's record onto the task icon and a
linked task is created, or to schedule time to make the call, simply drag
"call Mike" from the task list to the agenda and time is scheduled.

* Smart find providing fast and easy search capabilities using plain
English; for example, when scheduling an appointment with Mike, Claris
Organizer conducts an automatic search and suggests a list of all Mikes to
attach, for an appointment with "Mike at Claris," the suggested list is
automatically narrowed to only those Mikes at Claris.

* Automatic completion for quick and easy data entry based on previous
entries; for example, typing "San F" becomes "San Francisco."

* User-defined templates to automate the creation of frequently entered
information, such as multiple contacts at the same company.

* Custom views enabling users to filter and view subsets of all types of
information, such as family and friends, or tasks due this week.

* Easy import/export of information from most other PIMs, including Now
Contact and Up To Date, Aldus DateBook Pro and Touchbase Pro, Dynodex, and
Meeting Maker. Claris Organizer is easy to use, and easy to adopt because
it senses which PIM the information is coming from and lines up the
appropriate fields for accurate import.

Compact & Speedy

Claris Organizer delivers exceptional performance in one compact
application requiring only 1 MB RAM and 850K disk space. Compared to the
alternative, using separate schedule and contact applications at up to 2MB
RAM each, Claris Organizer requires less disk space and creates fewer
files to update. Claris Organizer provides outstanding performance
enabling search, sort and find functions to take only seconds, even with
large numbers of records. This elegant footprint and speedy performance
make Claris Organizer the perfect PIM for PowerBook users.

Flexible Printing & Professional Output

Claris Organizer offers flexible print features, for desktop users who
travel with a paper-based organizer, and professional output for business
correspondence. Easily printable information from Claris Organizer
includes calendars, phone lists, fax cover sheets, envelopes, addresses,
and appointments. Claris Organizer includes built-in daybook print
formats, such as Franklin, DayTimer and FiloFax, eliminating all the guess
work involved in printing. Avery label support includes pre-defined
formats, as well as the ability to specify the label number to start with,
so partially-used label sheets are not wasted.

Pricing, Availability and System Requirements

Claris Organizer will be available this summer for a special introductory
suggested retail price of $49 (through Sept. 30, 1994.) The suggested
retail price (SRP) is $99. System requirements for Claris Organizer
include: a Macintosh Plus, Centris, Classic, LC, SE, II, Performa,
PowerBook, or Quadra families; System 7.0 or higher; a minimum of 2 MB,
recommended 4MB of RAM; and 850K available hard disk space. Claris
Organizer is Power Macintosh compatible.
