CLARISIMPACT SHIPS FOR POWER MACINTOSH

Only integrated, 8-in-1 charting, drawing and graphics solution ships
native for Power Macintosh with new suggested promotional price of $149

SANTA CLARA -- May 23, 1994 -- Claris Corporation is now shipping
ClarisImpact 1.0 native for Power Macintosh systems. The totally
integrated, cross-platform graphics application is a complete solution for
handling a multitude of business graphics tasks, replacing a variety of
dedicated charting, drawing and presentation applications.

ClarisImpact native for Power Macintosh performs most operations such as
text handling, screen re-draws, and graphic resizing two- to four times
faster than the fastest 68040-based Macintosh systems, according to both
Claris and third-party testing.

In conjunction with shipping the Power Macintosh version of ClarisImpact,
Claris is implementing an aggressive pricing promotion of $149 from May 16
through September 30, 1994. The suggested retail price (SRP) for
ClarisImpact is $399.

"Our expertise in interface design and usability shines in ClarisImpact,"
said Daniel L. Eilers, Claris president and CEO. "Customers have been
raving about the unique, all-in-one approach to business charting and
graphics ClarisImpact provides. With the Power Macintosh version shipping,
we expect even broader corporate appeal."

ClarisImpact meets all the graphics needs of business users by offering
instant organizational charting, flow charting, data charting, project
scheduling, calendaring and complete free-form graphics capabilities
tightly integrated with word processing and presentation. ClarisImpact
brings a "one product, one vendor" solution to users and Information
Systems (IS) managers who were forced to purchase, master and support
multiple graphics applications. To harness all of the functionality
ClarisImpact provides with dedicated graphics applications, users would
pay well over $1,000, and have to learn eight separate interfaces and
feature sets.

Pricing, availability

Current ClarisImpact users can upgrade to the Power Macintosh version
directly from Claris for a shipping and handling fee of $13 by calling
1-800-544-8554. The new suggested promotional price of $149 is good from
May 16, 1994 through September 30, 1994.

To simplify purchasing and distribution issues, both the 680X0 version and
the Power Macintosh version are included in one box. A "smart installer"
automatically loads the correct version. The 680X0 and Power Macintosh
versions, as well as the upcoming Windows version, share identical file
formats for seamless cross-platform compatibility.

Customers who purchased ClarisImpact after April 15, 1994 are eligible for
a refund equal to the difference between their actual purchase price and
the promotional price of $149.
The regular suggested retail price of ClarisImpact is $399. Editors can

Competitive trade-up options broadened

In addition, Claris has broadened the types of applications that qualify
for a special promotional $99 (suggested) competitive "trade-up" to
ClarisImpact, (normally $149) also good through September 30. That
includes any organizational charting, flow charting, data charting,
project scheduling and calendar making programs, and any dedicated
graphics or presentation program. Users of these graphics applications can
now more easily afford to step up to the integration, consistent user
interface and automatic chart creation ClarisImpact provides, and take
advantage of the speed of a native Power Macintosh application.

About ClarisImpact

ClarisImpact is an integrated cross-platform graphics solution (shipping
now on Mac and early 1995 on Windows) that replaces the many graphics
applications used for business charting, drawing and presentation.
Intelligent "Models," appearing as icons on the ClarisImpact interface,
serve as "mini-applications" and automate a broad range of charting and
drawing tasks: Organizational charts, flow charts and network diagrams,
project scheduling charts, data charts, calendars and free-form graphics.
These charting Models are tightly integrated with word processing and
presentation to meet the communications needs of business users.

Pre-defined templates called "Styles" allow these users, even with no
artistic knowledge, the ability to create professional-quality charts and
diagrams with little effort. The intelligence built-in to ClarisImpact
prompts users throughout the design process, and offers many other
"foolproof" options to customize their graphics.

This level of integration and graphic automation is not available in the
various charting, drawing, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation
programs shipping from different vendors today. Now business users have
one application that meets all of their graphics needs.
