New Method of Software Protection Introduced at New York's PC Expo

New York June 28. 1994. CodeWare, a new method for software protection
introduced by Sell Fast, Inc. this week at PC Expo in New York, protects
software against illegal copying by requiring a new access code once a
year. If the annual code has not been entered, the program prompts
registered users to call a toll-free number for their new code.
Unregistered users are also prompted to call the 800 number--so they can
pay for their copy and become registered users.

CodeWare is a breakthrough in software distribution because it allows
widespread copying and distribution of software yet still provides payment
to the publisher for every copy. The need for CodeWare is illustrated by
published estimates that well over 40% of software now in use was copied
without any payment to the author or publisher.

Sell Fast, Inc., the Southern California developer of CodeWare, expects
CodeWare usage to grow with faster transmission speeds on the "Information
Superhighway." Faster transmission makes it easier to copy word processing
and other large programs over the Internet and other networks. As copying
of larger, more expensive programs becomes easier, CodeWare, which imbeds
protection in every copy, will become almost a necessity. Sell-Fast, Inc.
is licensing CodeWare for use by other companies.

The software package used to introduce CodeWare at PC Expo is Sell-Fast, a
new genre of software which teaches, coaches and prompts users in selling
techniques. Because every business person is selling something, and
usually could use some help doing it, Sell-Fast needed widespread
distribution to a very large market. CodeWare was their answer.

In addition to retail distribution of program diskettes, Sell-Fast
encourages free copying of its CodeWare protected program from any user
and over the Internet and online services. Sell-Fast's self-extracting
file SELL.EXE can be copied free from Internet address sellfast@kaiwan.com
and from the Entrepreneur Forum library (GO USEN) on CompuServe.

Each copy of Sell-Fast runs as a full-featured demo for 30 days and then
prompts the user to call a toll-free number for registration and an access
code. Once registered, Sell-Fast sends each user their annual access code
every January. This annual code is different for every registration
number.
