Smartbook III--The New Generation of 486-Based Notebooks

May 20, 1994 -- San Jose, CA--Commax Technologies, Inc. introduces the
Smartbook III, the newest member of the Smartbook family of upgradable
486-based notebooks. Its newest collection of features carries the
Smartbook III to higher levels of flexible technology. The attributes of
this new family member create a computing package with the desktop power
and speed that today's notebook computer user needs.

The Smartbook III employs a 486 platform similar to that of its sibling,
the Smartbook II, which Commax introduced last December. The Smartbook III
supports the power of 486DX-33, 486DX2-50, 486DX2-66 and 486DX4-100 to
allow users to purchase only the speed they need today.

active matrix color. Smartbook III screen can be upgraded by a factory
authorized dealer. Smartbook III also includes the 32 bit speed of VESA
Local Bus video to provide exceptional graphics performance. All models
come standard with 1MB of video RAM.

The Smartbook III comes with one type II and one type III PCMCIA slots with
a type IV expansion slot. PCMCIA slots allow users to enhance their system
with a myriad of plug and play options to provide added system
capabilities. PCMCIA is ideal for networking applications, increasing
storage capacity and expanding the communication options available with a
notebook computer.

The Smartbook III offers built-in digital audio sound with record and play
back features. It comes standard with a built-in speaker, built-in
microphone and line in / line out jacks. The Smartbook III audio system is
Microsoft sound system and Sound Blaster compatible.

carried and replaced. It also provides maximum protection for security
purpose.

The Smartbook III incorporates an ergonomic keyboard design with a built-in
