CONNER ANNOUNCES NEW 810MB, 1GB DISK DRIVES FOR RETAIL

Latest high-capacity Disk.Stor products targeted at burgeoning PC upgrade
market

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 28, 1994 -- Conner Peripherals, Inc. (NYSE: CNR)
today expanded its Disk.Stor product line with the introduction of two
high-performance 3.5-inch drives that offer capacities of 810MB and 1GB.

Conner's Disk-Stor products, available from leading computer retailers and
distributors, are sold in informative point-of-purchase packaging and
include an easy-to-understand installation guide and all the necessary
hardware for installation. The new 810MB and 1 GB drives extend the
high-end of the Disk.Stor line, which also includes 210MB, 420MB and 540MB
products.

Conner's new Disk.Stor 810 and Disk.Stor 1080 are one-inch-high drives that
feature fast average seek times of 10.5 milliseconds. Both drives support
the fastest IDE data transfer rates available today, making them ideal for
graphics-intensive applications. The drives are targeted at the burgeoning
upgrade market for mainstream PCs.

"As users switch to newer, more powerful software and add additional
applications to their existing systems, they are discovering that they
need much more disk drive capacity than ever before," said Peter Knight,
senior vice president of business development at Conner.

"Disk capacity requirements are exploding on many fronts. This ranges from
a trend toward video mail, which requires much higher storage capacity
than traditional E-mail, to applications that are so large they must be
distributed on CD-ROM. At the same time, the size and complexity of new
operating systems are also increasing storage requirements. Users almost
never have too much disk space," Knight said.

Conner's Disk-Stor 810 and Disk.Stor 1080 drives support PIO Mode 3 of the
Enhanced IDE specification and achieve burst data transfer rates in excess
of 12MB per second when used with an Enhanced IDE-to-local bus adapter
card. That compares with typical data transfer rates of 3MB to 4MB per
second over standard AT-bus systems equipped with the IDE interface.

The drives feature fast rotational speeds of 4,500 rpm and a 256K cache
buffer to increase performance. The Disk.Stor 810 and Disk.Stor 1080 come
with a two-year warranty and feature a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF)
rating of 300,000 hours.

Conner's Disk.Stor drives are available now from leading retailers,
including CompUSA, Best Buy, Micro Warehouse and WalMart. The
manufacturer's suggested retail prices are: Disk-Stor 810, $699.99, and
Disk.Stor 1080, $849.99.

Founded in 1986, Conner sells, designs and builds a comprehensive line of
information storage solutions products, including disk drives, tape
drives, storage management software and storage systems, for a wide range
of computer applications. Conner had 1993 sales of $2.2 billion.
