CORE International Revs-up New Parallel Port Tape Drive with Unnertia
Engine

-- CORE's unique bipolar motor design provides faster tape access times --

New York, PC EXPO -- June 28, 1994 -- CORE International provides users
faster tape access times with the announcement of its COREtape TD-P250
parallel port 250 megabyte tape drive. CORE's exclusive unnertia engine
uses a unique bipolar charging technique to accelerate to top speed under
tape load in less than a second. The motor also provides quicker stopping
times for faster tape reads and redirection.

"The TD-P250 unnertia engine is faster than typical tape drive engines that
use a single-pole charging method," said Rich Bruklis, product manager at
CORE. "Our unique motor design makes our drives very accurate during file
seeks, virtually eliminating 'shoe shining' by stopping in the right
place," added Bruklis.

The COREtape TD-P250 supports QIC-80 and features a parallel port interface
for universal connection to almost any system. This makes the unit
well-suited for backing-up independent workstations and performing large
file transfers. "Users can share the COREtape TD-P250, making it ideal for
flexible, high-capacity, removable storage for small offices, work groups
and home systems," added Marcus Taylor, director of marketing at CORE.

The tape drive also features an external parallel printer port for
non-simultaneous pass-through printing while the drive is connected to the
PC. "Users no longer have to fumble and shuffle cables every time they
want to print or backup data," said Taylor.

Fully compatible with ANSI X3.T9 QIC-117 specifications, the COREtape
TD-P250 allows use of 2080 and 2120 tape cartridges, providing up to 250MB
of storage. Like all COREtape drives, the TD-P250 comes with a formatted
Sony 2120 tape and Microsoft Windows and DOS versions of CORE's tape
backup software--ready for use right out of the box. The drive features a
two-year full replacement warranty and one of the industry's highest mean
time between failure (MTBF) rates of 52,000 hours.

The COREtape TD-P250 will be demonstrated this week at PC EXPO in New York,
Booth #4160. The product will be available fourth quarter with a list
price of $399.
