Running Popular Multimedia, Voice Recognition Applications

NEW YORK -- June 28, 1994 -- Digital Equipment Corporation, a worldwide
supplier of open client/server systems and services, is showcasing at PC
Expo, for the first time, its recently announced personal computer and
server lines. Highlighting its booth theme, "Beyond the Box", Digital is
demonstrating additions to the Value and Server Lines of personal computer
and server products. The new DECpc LPx+ Energy Star-compliant family
significantly exceeds federal government requirements for energy
conservation, resulting in lower energy bills for users.

Showcasing the power of the Pentium microprocessor, Digital is
demonstrating its full spectrum of PC and server products, ranging from
notebooks to desktop systems. Specifically, Digital is demonstrating
numerous systems running Intel's latest clock-tripled Pentium DX4 100MHz
processor and 90MHz Pentium processor.

Digital's featured servers support a broad range of standard operating
environments -- SCO UNIX, IBM's OS/2, Microsoft Windows NT Advanced
Server, Microsoft Windows for Workgroups, and Novell NetWare, as well as
Digital's PATHWORKS. The PCs and servers are running the latest in
video-conferencing/multimedia applications and multimedia entertainment
software, as well as high-performance-graphics-intensive applications in a
heterogeneous networked environment.

"At PC Expo, Digital is demonstrating what we mean by "Beyond the Box,"
said Winnie Briney, vice president of marketing for the Americas for
Digital's Personal Computer Business Unit. "Customers are seeing a range
of PC solutions featuring the engineering, product quality and networking
expertise that have become Digital's hallmark. Many of these PCs can be
upgraded to higher performing microprocessors or migrated from CISC- to
RISC-based computing platforms," Briney continued. "Each system is also
covered by a three-year support warranty."

To complement its PC product arena, Digital also is announcing new printing
products. The company is introducing and showing a new line of advanced
dot matrix forms printers with color capability. The new DECwriter 195
includes a Microsoft Windows 3.1 printer driver and a two-year warranty.
Other Digital color and laser printers are also on display.
