DATAPRODUCTS OFFERS LASER PRINTER UPGRADE KIT

WOODLAND HILLS, California, June 14, 1994 -- Dataproducts Corporation today
announced an upgrade kit to their successful LZR 1560 laser printer. The
kit increases the LZR 1560's maximum resolution to 800 dpi and adds the
network connectivity features of Dataproducts' enhanced Virtual Printer
Technology (VPT).

Jim Christian, director of marketing, said, "LZR 1560 printer owners can
now upgrade to 800 dpi resolution and gain all the benefits of VPT without
buying a new printer. This upgrade kit, along with our new technical
support and maintenance programs, underlines Dataproducts' commitment to
provide continuing support to our customer base."

"Our strategy continues to allow many of our users to have the capability
to upgrade their laser printer, in fact, many future products will have
software upgrades," he added.

VPT adds powerful networking features to the LZR 1560. These include the
ability to simultaneously emulate up to 64 virtual printers, with each
virtual printer configured to fulfill the specific needs of an individual
or work group. VPT, an SNMP MIB 2-compliant device, offers concurrent
protocol support for Novell IPX, Apple EtherTalk, UNIX, TCP/IP and DEC LAT
and 21 major operating systems.

Other new features include paper bin selection by virtual printer, PSERVER
for Novell 3.x, Macintosh printing through Novell spooler, font
customization in PCL and enhanced LPD.

The addition of PSERVER simplifies installation and greatly expands Novell
3.x connectivity, particularly on large networks. Using PSERVER, print
jobs can now be spooled directly to the printer, saving intermediate
steps. Macintosh users can also spool large print jobs through the Novell
Spooler ATPS NLM, eliminating the wait while jobs are printing.

With improved PCL parameters for virtual printers, users can have
customized fontspace, typeface, symbolset, height, style, strokeweight and
VMI.

Enhanced LPD can be directed to any virtual printer for PostScript and PCL
printing. Full queuing capabilities and all virtual printer customization
features are available. Using Enhanced LPD, UNIX users can take advantage
of multiple virtual printers.

The LZR1560-to-LZR1580 Upgrade Kit is available in two configurations. The
first, carrying a list price of $ 1,899, provides VPT network connectivity
only. The second, priced at $2,099, adds VPI and high resolution printing
(600 dpi and 800 dpi). Both upgrade kits include a 10-Base T or 10-Base 2
connector, installation and one-year on-site warranty.

The upgrade kit is available from Dataproducts Customer Support Division at
1-800-887-8848.
