ElseWare Ships Font Works for Windows
Solves Windows Font Substitution and Printing Problems

Seattle, April 18, 1994--ElseWare Corp. today shipped Font Works for
Windows, the first utility that guarantees fonts work for anyone who
shares and prints documents. Font Works provides an extensive library of
more than 150 business communication fonts, tools for management and
organization of fonts, on-line expert advice for selecting fonts and smart
font substitution for working with documents that contain fonts not on the
system. In addition, ElseWare today announced that PC Connection is
bundling Font Works with the Lotus SmartSuite in the May-June Catalog.

Font Works solves a growing problem for people who share and print
documents. When users move document from computer to computer or even
print with a different printer, they frequently discover that they do not
have the necessary fonts installed and cannot display, edit or print the
document without experiencing font substitution problems. With Font Works,
however, a document can be moved from one computer to another without
losing the intended appearance of the original.

Font Works includes screen fonts for LaserJet and PostScript printers, so
you can use the fonts built into the printer for faster printing and know
that your document will have true WYSIWYG display. If the document is
printed to a different printer on the network or at home, Font Works will
download the font for true font fidelity.

Single user versions of Font Works are available now for a suggested retail
price of $129.95 (U.S.). Multiple user network packages are also available
for 10 and 50 user nodes with a suggested retail price of $600 and $1,525,
respectively. Font Works is available directly from ElseWare by calling
1-800-357-3927, department J1, or through Egghead, Micro Warehouse, PC
Zone, PC Connection, 800 Software, Corporate Software, Tiger Software and
other computer software resellers.

Font Works, based on ElseWare's Infinifont technology, can generate over
150 fonts "on-the-fly" while consuming less than one fifth of the disk
space required by current font technologies.

"Word processors and Windows applications come with different fonts, which
creates problems when exchanging documents," said Rob Tappan, product
tester for the business department at Oregon State University. "Because
Font Works integrates itself with all Windows applications and provides a
large variety of quality fonts, we can quickly and easily manage fonts and
exchange documents."

In addition to providing document portability and conserving disk space,
Font Works includes the Advisor, a tool that helps users select font
combinations that are most appropriate for specific kinds of audiences and
documents. The Advisor was designed by Daniel Will-Harris, a popular
author on the use of typography in business documents.

Font Works also provides font management utilities that let users organize
fonts according to task or project, such as newsletters, reports and
presentations. In addition, users can customize their applications' font
menus by hiding fonts not regularly used. ElseWare's OpenFont technology
automatically loads hidden fonts when requested by a shared document.
OpenFont allows users to minimize the number of fonts they use on a daily
basis with the confidence that if they receive a document containing a
hidden font, it will automatically be loaded. Font Works includes more
fonts and tools than the top three best-selling font packs combined.

"People don't want to worry about fonts; they just want to be assured that
their system has whatever it takes to view and print the documents that
may come their way, regardless of the fonts" said Ben Bauermeister,
cofounder and president of ElseWare. "Font Works' simple interface
controls a sophisticated technology that automatically provides the fonts
when they are needed, even fonts requested by documents that haven't been
installed on your system."

ElseWare is the leading supplier of multi-platform portable font
technology. It has licensed its technology to Agfa Corp., Aldus Corp.,
Bitstream Inc., Corel Corp., Crandall Group, Hewlett Packard Inc., Lotus
Development Corp., Microsoft Corp. and No Hands.
