GROUP 1 SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES MASTER DELIVERY SERIES MAIL MANAGEMENT PRODUCTS
FOR CANADA

Group 1 Software today announced the release of the Master Delivery Series
of Canadian address and mail management software tor IBM and compatible
microcomputers. The Master Deliver Series allows mailers to correct and
validate Canadian addresses and postal codes easily as well as
automatically presort and qualify mail according to Canada Post's
specifications. By using the Master Delivery Series, mailers can avoid
postal surcharges and obtain substantial postage incentive rates In
addition, by providing the highest possible quality of mailing addresses,
mailers can improve the speed and accuracy of mail delivery and
substantially reduce undeliverable mail.

The release of these products is significant to those organizations that
need to demonstrate to Canada Post an address accuracy level of at least
80% to maintain qualification for postal rate incentives. If this level of
accuracy is not demonstrated, a $0.05 surcharge will be assessed for each
invalid piece. Effective January 1, 1994, Canada Post modified its
original 95% address accuracy requirement downward to 80% to allow more
mailers to participate in the automation program and to contribute toward
the achievement of Canada Post's automation goals. This qualification
level will be increased by 5% per year until the 95% level is again
required.

"The costs of invalid addresses can add up quickly," explains Steve Dodd,
manager of Group 1's Canadian operation. "For instance, an accuracy level
of 79% will cause 21% of a company's mail to be surcharged. If a company
is mailing 100,000 pieces with 21% of it subject to a surcharge, that's
$1,050 in surcharges each time they mail. These new products make it easy
to comply with the new specifications, and more important, the new
products are priced within reach of even the smallest organization. The
Master Delivery Series ensures that every component of an address is
correct, not just the postal code, which increases mail deliverability The
resulting reduction in undelivered mail represents substantial additional
savings in the cost of doing business."

The Master Delivery Series includes SmartAddresser, SmartLookup, and
SmartSort and is available in either DOS or Windows. One year of monthly
updates, toll-free technical support, and maintenance is included. These
products are also available as individual modules.

SmartAddresser helps ensure that every piece of mail contains a correct
address, not just the postal code. If any component of the address fails
to comply with the specifications set by Canada Post, SmartAddresser will
attempt to correct the error and return the correct address according, to
the Canada Post database. SmartAddresser also provides options on what
address corrections should be made, tags records with an appropriate
status indicator that lets the mailer know the condition of his data, and
generates the Statement of Address Accuracy required by Canada Post.
SmartAddresser has been tested and recognized under the Canada Post
Software Evaluation and Recognition Program (SERP) for address validation
and correction and has been awarded a Level III recognition, the highest
level awarded.

SmartSort presorts and qualifies letter, publication, and addressed
advertising mail according to Canada Post's specifications, allowing users
to take advantage of the maximum postal discount rates at every category
and level of service. SmartSort calculates baa, bundle, and monotainer
sizes; creates bag and bundle labels; and generates all the reports
required for the Canada Post Statement of Mailing.

SmartLookup is an electronic version of the Canadian Postal Code Directory,
giving instant online access to every address and postal code in the
Canada Post database. Mailers can look up a single address or browse
through house numbers, street names, and cities in the Canada Post
database.

Group 1 will market the products through its direct sales force in Canada
and the U S as well as through its Canadian dealer network. Also available
from Group 1 are other SERP-recognized address validation and correction
