GROUP 1 SOFTWARE ANNOUNCES INTELLIGENT ADDRESS CORRECTION

May 25, 1994 - Group 1 Software today announced the release of Intelligent
Address Correction (IAC) for IBM and compatible microcomputers (PCs). IAC
allows mailers to correct and validate Canadian addresses and postal codes
interactively. By using IAC, mailers can avoid postal surcharges and
obtain substantial postage discounts. In addition, by providing the
highest possible quality of mailing addresses, mailers can improve the
speed and accuracy of mail delivery and substantially reduce undeliverable
mail.

IAC allows a mailer to correct interactively those addresses that are too
ambiguous or incomplete for other software applications to fix. IAC
analyzes individual records that were previously determined to be
non-correctable. IAC highlights elements that it cannot determine to be
correct address information and provides "intelligent suggestions" on how
to correct the address. The "browser" feature allows users to browse the
Canada Post database and select any one of the 670,000+ postal codes or
the 11.6+ million addresses in Canada. Lists can be examined in sequence
or by single record, showing the original with the corrected address
side-by-side. Information can be copied and pasted between records. The
corrected address can be returned to the original input file. IAC is built
upon SERP Level III recognized software and is available for Windows.

The release of IAC makes it easy for mailers to comply with the new address
accuracy goals established by Canada Post on January 1, 1994. To maintain
qualification for postal rate incentives, mailers must demonstrate an
address accuracy level of at least 80%. If such accuracy is not
demonstrated, a $0.05 surcharge will be assessed for each invalid piece.
Since the costs of invalid addresses can add up quickly, a reduction in
undeliverable mail represents additional savings in the cost of doing
business.

Group 1 will market IAC through its direct sales force in the US and Canada
as well as through a dealer network in Canada. Also available from Group 1
are SERP-recognized address validation and correction products for both
mainframe and midrange computers. For more product or sales information
