GAMMALINK DEBUTS "QUICK INTEGRATION" COMPUTER-BASED FAX SOLUTION FOR LAN
FAX AND FAX BROADCAST MARKETS

CP4/LSI Fax Board Allows Direct Connection To Telephone Lines; Provides
Simple Method To Develop Fax Broadcast System

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (4/29/94)--A powerful, yet cost-effective computer-based
facsimile solution has been announced by GammaLink, Sunnyvale, Calif. The
GammaFax CP4/LSI fax board facilitates the development of computer-based
fax (CBF) broadcast systems and affords easier integration of Local Area
Network (LAN) fax capabilities. The GammaFax CP4/LSI allows direct
board-to-phone line connectivity and simplified system integration,
through four on-board Loop Start Interfaces (LSIs). The LSIs maximize
available PC server chassis space and minimize system costs.

Designed around the popular GammaFax CP4 fax board platform, the GammaFax
CP4/LSI is equivalent to four separate CPi fax boards on a single board.
The CP4/LSI is fully compatible with all GammaLink single-line boards for
greater scalability and "mix and match" design functionality to allow any
configuration or number of phone lines into a single fax server. This
capability provides users with a smooth system upgrade path, and is unique
to the GammaLink product line. Priced at $2995, roughly 25 percent less
than competitive offerings, the GammaFax CP4/LSI is available now.

In addition to system scalability, the CP4/LSI fax board automatically
supports the hundreds of third-party software packages developed for
GammaLink CPi boards. All of the current applications run by GammaLink
board users will be supported with the CP4/LSI.

"LAN-fax and service bureaus were facing integration and cost issues," said
Rich Willis, GammaLink's director of marketing. "The GammaFax CP4/LSI is
an easy-to-use, easy-to-integrate solution that will continue to support
the largest base of CBF applications in the market. The CP4/LSI was
designed in response to the increasing market need for a fax board with
the ability to connect multiple phone lines into a single board while
maintaining support for existing customer applications."

The GammaFax CP4/LSI fax board continues the GammaLink tradition of
providing robust power and flexibility for both end users and developers.
Programmability across all GammaFax boards offers developers and their
customers unique scalability and support for all sizes of systems from the
small-volume local area networks to the large-volume telecommunication
carriers.

The LSI board also features such popular CP4 features as 14.4 Kbps
transmission/reception, MR (Modified READ) and MMR (Modified Modified
READ) data compression, Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) detection, and
Error Correction Mode available in all four LSI phone line channels
simultaneously.
