AUSTIN DIRECT INTRODUCES LINE OF PENTIUM PROFESSIONAL MULTIMEDIA SYSTEMS

AUSTIN, Texas--Austin Direct announces a line of fully integrated CD-ROM
recording and Audio/Video compression systems for professional
applications.

The Austin Direct CDMS-P60, DVMS-P60 and DVS-P60 systems are designed
around the powerful Intel Pentium microprocessor and offer complete CD-ROM
recording and editing features.

The CDMS-P60 is an Intel Pentium 60MHz PCI-based system with 16MB RAM
standard, PCI 24-bit graphics controller, 16-bit MediaMagic sound card and
CD-ROM recorder/player with mastering software. Using the International
Standards Organization's (ISO) 9660 format, the CDMS-P60 is ideal for
applications such as developing catalogs, CD game titles, displays and
kiosks, image storage, electronic publishing and recording archival data
(errors less than 1 in 1014 bits). The CD-ROM system can store the
equivalent of 450 high-density floppy disks or 250,000 pages of text on a
single compact disc. Recorded discs will play on all standard single and
multiple speed MPC1 and 2 compliant CD-ROM drives.

Austin Direct's DVMS-P60 is built around an Intel Pentium 60MHz
microprocessor with 16 MB RAM standard, PCI 24-bit graphics controller and
CD-ROM drive with mastering software. Optibase MPG-4000 real-time MPEG
capture and compression, and PCMotion Pro audio capture and playback
adapters are included. The system brings broadcast quality, full motion
video and synchronized audio recording to the desktop. With the DVMS-P60,
it's possible to record in real time or frame-by-frame from video cameras,
videotape and laserdisc players. It also can record direct from digital
sources such as medical, scientific and video special effects and imaging
systems. The DVMS-P60 offers real-time video CD recording with compression
up to 200:1 of either separate or interleaved audio/video streams in the
MPEG 1 standard. The system allows users to intermix text, data, audio and
video on a single compact disc.

The DVS-P60 system from Austin Direct is a digital video server based on
the Intel Pentium 60MHz microprocessor with 32-MB RAM standard, a RAID PCI
SCSI 2 Disk Controller and VGA graphics adapter. The system offers
interactive multimedia for existing networks in NetWare or UNIX-based
server configurations (Windows NT, Q3-'94) to provide up to 40 users
simultaneous video and audio access. Austin Direct offers custom
ready-to-run DVS multimedia server configurations to support popular Video
compression formats, network adapters and networking environments.

All three Pentium multimedia systems offer excellent image quality in VHS,
Betacam, 1-inch, D2 or D1 formats. Users determine the playback quality,
from low bit rates for up to 72 minutes of VHS playback, to higher bit
rates for kiosks, demo reels, video arcades and medical and scientific
recording.

Each system includes easy-to-use premastering and recording software
running under Microsoft Windows. The software supports all CD Book
standards and includes complete documentation manuals and instructions.
The systems will begin shipping in mid-March. Prices will start at
$12,500.
