DIGITAL IMAGING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT TOPIC OF KODAK SEMINAR AT PC EXPO

NEW YORK, June 28--Law enforcement officials will learn about digital
imaging techniques designed to help apprehend suspects and solve cases
more quickly, at an Eastman Kodak Company seminar here at PC Expo.

The seminar is an invitation-only event designed for law enforcement
professionals. It is being held three times daily, June 28 to 30.

The seminar includes three presentations on the use of digital imaging in
forensics and investigations:

* George Reis, photo/ID technician with the Newport Beach (Calif.) Police
Department, discusses how the department uses Kodak products to reduce the
time it takes to prepare a set of fingerprints for entry into the
Automated Fingerprint Identification System.

* A second presentation, which uses material prepared by the FBI, will
describe how the Bureau's Photo Division uses Kodak digital cameras to
speed up identification and improve reconnaissance efforts.

* Kodak also will offer a preview of a product currently being tested, a
multimedia database system which allows users such as law enforcement
agencies to create digital records on-Kodak Writable CD discs. A detective
from one test site will describe how the discs--in effect digital
detective notebooks--can hold any type of digital information, including
scanned photographs, Kodak Photo CD images, video, audio and text, and can
be shared with any system that reads CD-ROM discs. For law enforcement
agencies, the system can assist physical crimes detectives by storing
evidence photographs, texts of notes, audio recordings of witnesses, and
even suspect interrogation video clips.

"In the time- and detail-intensive rigors of a criminal investigation,
officials can realize enormous benefits from digital imaging
technologies," said Herb Blitzer, Kodak manager for Law Enforcement
Markets. "From digital photography for surveillance work, to CD media for
efficient storage and retrieval of case-related information, Kodak
products can provide workable, cost effective solutions for law
enforcement."
