MapInfo Corporation's Developers' Showcase Presents Six Mainstream Vertical
Applications

TROY, N.Y., June 28, 1994 -- MapInfo Corporation's Developers' Showcase at
PC Expo features a cross-section of mainstream vertical-industry
applications developed with MapInfo desktop mapping software.

"MapInfo software, together with the MapBasic development environment and
SQL DataLink for client/server access to remote databases, gives
developers exactly what they need to deliver vertical applications for
data visualization and analysis," says Matthew Szulik, vice president,
worldwide sales. "Mapping applications that started out improving
productivity for end-users are today being implemented in a variety of
functional areas across the enterprise.

"We look to our partners in the channel to achieve this," Szulik states.
"They are the experts in their respective industries and can best meet the
demand for vertical solutions. The results are here at PC Expo this week,"
he adds.

Featured applications and developers in the Developers' Showcase include:

Automated Vehicle Location (AVL)

Miletus Associates (Albuquerque, N.M.), is presenting TracerLink, a Windows
based application that works with global positioning systems (GPS)
technology to capture the location of moving vehicles for real-time
display on MapInfo street maps. This application is indispensable for
emergency response operations by police, fire departments and ambulance
services, as well as for day-to-day transportation and logistics
management by long and short distance haulers, utilities, shipping firms
and repair services. Vehicles, routes, traffic, cargo, loaded weight,
destination, drivers and other data can be visualized and efficiently
managed with TracerLink.

Data Sets

CLARITAS (Alexandria, Va.), is presenting two data sets: Trendline-GIS
(Geodemographic Time Series) and PRIZM Lifestyle Segmentation. Both of
these data sets can be used with MapInfo desktop mapping software on
multiple platforms. Trendline-GIS provides demographics such as
population, number of households, family sizes and income levels. Data is
provided from the 1980 and 1990 census counts, current year estimates and
five-year projections. There are four Trendline-GIS databases available:
Basic, Core, Combination and Complete. PRIZM Lifestyle Segmentation
classifies all US neighborhoods according to lifestyle, product and media
preferences. This system is an effective tool for marketers to target
potential customers.

Demographic Analysis

On Target Communications (Pittsburgh, Pa.), is showing two Windows based
MapInfo applications: Drive-Time and DataSelect. The Drive-Time
application allows businesses to calculate the drive-time to various
locations in order to determine ideal sites, plan routes and develop
marketing strategies. With DataSelect, businesses are able to
geographically analyze demographics and customer purchase patterns to
pinpoint the best locations. Industries that are benefiting from these
applications include telecommunication, retail, real estate,
transportation, public service and advertising among others. In addition,
On Target Communications will also have available a series of
telecommunications data products: CellularInfo, LATAInfo, ContourInfo, V&H
Info, MicrowaveInfo and RateCenterInfo.

Retail Site Selection

Digisoft Computers (New York, N.Y.), is displaying NeuroLocator for retail
site selection. The application uses MapInfo for Windows to integrate
market research, statistical site analysis and graphical display to
evaluate optimal retail sites and support selection decisions.
NeuroLocator can also be used to pinpoint potential competition to
existing businesses. This application is valuable to gas stations, food
chains and franchises among others.

Risk Management

Risk Management Solutions, formerly Risk Management Software, Inc. (Menlo
Park, Calif.), is showing IRAS (Insurance/Investment Risk Assessment
System), an application that analyzes insurance and mortgage data to
determine the financial risks due to earthquakes, hurricanes and other
natural disasters and displays the results on MapInfo for Windows. IRAS
enables insurance companies, financial institutions and government
agencies to show the geographic distribution of losses or probable loss
levels over time for disasters using financial modeling methodologies and
other state-of-the-art engineering methods.

Routing and Scheduling

RoTec (Canton, Conn.), the Routing Technology Company, is demonstrating
three Windows based applications: RoutePlanner, LoadPlanner and
InteliTracs. These applications handle automatic vehicle loading, routing
and scheduling of transportation fleet for both long-haul and local
pick-ups and deliveries. Actual road miles not air miles are utilized to
provide accurate information for all RoTec products. The RoutePlanner
provides cost effective routing and scheduling information from point to
point. The LoadPlanner optimizes route efficiency by taking into account
delivery acceptance time, duration of each stop, volume and weights of
loads, driver teams and federal regulations. The Intelli-Tracs is a
real-time automated vehicle tracking system with routing and scheduling
intelligence. It displays vehicles on highly graphical screens and
calculates both estimated time of arrival (ETA) and out-of-route (OOR)
violations based on the actual road network.
