MULTICOMTOWER ANNOUNCED AT PCEXPO

MOUNDS VIEW, MN (June 28, 1994)--Multi-Tech Systems, Inc., a leading modem
manufacturer, announces its MultiComTower LAN/WAN gateway, a NetWare
hardware/software solution for dial-in and dial-out modem sharing for both
Windows and DOS environments. Working with either NetWare Connect or
MultiComRNGateway, the MultiComTower can include the modems mounted in a
MultiModemManager Rack, a Keyboard/Video MS9 Mux MultiArraySwitch, and 386
or 486 Single Board Computers (SBCs) in the MultiArrayII and Ethernet
Concentrator.

The MultiComTower comes bundled with MultiComRNGateway, MultiExpress data
communications and MultiExpressFax Server software that allows users to
perform dial-in or out data communications, send and receive faxes, do
remote access using remote control or remote node, and even dial-in access
to a UNIX host on the same LAN.

"Developing LAN modem sharing and remote access with multiple vendors can
mean incompatibility, leading to headaches, frustration, and finger
pointing, states Raghu Sharma, President of Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. "The
MultiComTower is an affordable solution because it gives you complete
communications for your data and fax needs and everything comes from one
source. You just wheel it in, plug in a couple of cables, and you're
on-line anywhere in the world using the Public Switched Telephone
Network."

The MultiComTower cabinet is a standard 19-inch rack mount enclosure with
smoked Plexiglass locking door and full 32 inch (800mm) depth. It will
hold up to 60 vertical inches of rack equipment and includes an
Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) providing 1250 VA (Volt Amps) power.
The power failure battery backup system provides 15 minutes of full power
and is equipped with American Power Conversion (APC) power shoot for soft
power failure protection.

The MS9 Video/Keyboard Mux switches a single monitor and keyboard between
up to nine SBCs. The MultiArrayII contains a 20-slot user-configurable
back plane for use with Multi-Tech Single Board Computers (SBCs). Each SBC
comes with two (expandable to 16) megabytes of RAM, an IDE and Floppy
Drive controller, VGA support, two serial ports, and one parallel port.
The Ethernet concentrator provides up to 16 10BASE-T ports with one AUI
and one thin coax port. The concentrator is a companion product to
Multi-Tech's Network Interface Cards (NICs) used in the MultiArrayII. The
MultiModemManager provides up to 48 V.32bis modems per rack, which can be
managed by a local or remote PC.

The MultiComRNGateway is one of a number of Multi-Tech gateway products
which provide modem pooling and remote access for data and fax
communications with Novell and Netbios LANs. Its remote access provides
remote control and remote node for up to 32 simultaneous users. Send and
receive faxing can be done by a dedicated fax server or from individual PC
workstations on the LAN. It even permits dial-in access to UNIX hosts on
the same LAN.

The basic configuration, including MultiModemManager with 8 modems,
MultiArrayII with four 486DX33 SBCs (two for remote control, one for modem
manager, and one for gateway controller), MultiComRNGateway, MS9 switch,
Ethernet Concentrator and tower cabinet, is priced at $29,303. The
MulliComTower is shipping now.
