NETCOM INTRODUCES FREE, EASY-TO-USE INTERNET TOOLS

NetCruiser Demystifies the Renowned Global Network for Average PC Users

NEW YORK, June 27, 1994--Today at PC Expo, NETCOM On-Line Communications
Services, Inc. introduced a new product that will open access to the
Internet for PC users nationwide by replacing complicated Internet
instructions with an easy, point-and-click interface. NetCruiser, a suite
of Internet tools with an intelligent, intuitive graphical user interface,
enables even novice Internauts to be up and cruising the renowned global
network in minutes.

NetCruiser unlocks areas of the Internet that remained out of reach for PC
aficionados unaware of the code commands required for entry. The product
supports simple navigation of many of the most powerful capabilities of
the global Internet, including the multimedia resources of the World Wide
Web, the search capacity of Gopher and file transfer (FTP) for programs
and information found in thousands of computers worldwide --all with a
click of a mouse. NetCruiser users also gain easy access to USENET news
groups via topical indices, electronic mail and the use of Telnet remote
access functions.

"Our mission is to make the wealth of information on the Internet available
to everyone," said John Whalen, NETCOM's president and COO. "NetCruiser
opens that world to a whole lot of people, from wizards to amateurs, who
weren't able to get in or move around freely before. NetCruiser is a
landmark product--anybody can afford it and now, more importantly, anybody
can use it."

The key to NetCruiser's user-friendly interface is the innovative Internet
Site Chooser, a geographical map that is pre-loaded with all of the
computer resource destinations resident in each state. This tool allows
NetCruiser users to find the information they need without knowing its
Internet location--a feat that is impossible today with standard
command-driven Internet access. Internet Site Chooser guides NetCruiser
users navigating with Gopher, FTP and World Wide Web tools, enabling
comprehensive information searches by location and subject matter.

NETCOM's Internet service is designed to give users maximum freedom and
accessibility. NetCruiser provides Compressed Serial Line Internet
Protocol (CSLIP) access, a direct connection to the global Internet. CSLIP
access delivers two benefits: the elimination of an intermediary host that
may restrict or inhibit access, and nationwide support for mobile PC
users. Access via a CSLIP connection allows portable computer users to
access the Internet from the nearest local access point, regardless of
their location.

NETCOM will demonstrate NetCruiser throughout PC Expo, June 28-30 in New
York' s Jacob Javits Convention Center, Booth #4170.

Availability and Pricing

NetCruiser will be commercially available in July 1994. The product runs on
IBM-compatible personal computers equipped with a 386 or greater
processor, using Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or above. With on-line
registration, NetCruiser installs on a PC easily without user
configuration. Future versions of NetCruiser may be dynamically downloaded
by users at their election via NETCOM's high-speed data connection.

NetCruiser is free with subscriber service for NETCOM Internet access.
Pricing for NetCruiser accounts is $19.95 per month, plus a one time
$25.00 start up fee. This flat rate includes 25 hours of Internet access
per month, plus unlimited usage during "offpeak" hours (midnight to 6:00
a.m.). NETCOM will bill NetCruiser subscribers automatically via major
credit card.
