NetSoft Announces Full SNA Over TCP/IP and TN3270 Client Connectivity
Solutions for Windows.

New Open Architecture Implementations Maximize SNA and TCP/IP
Interoperability for Enterprise Network Customers.

LAGUNA HILLS, CA, April 25, 1994 -- NetSoft, a worldwide supplier of PC
connectivity software, today announced a series of interoperability
enhancements to its NS/3270 and DynaComm/Elite Windows-to-mainframe
communications software product lines. The new open architecture
capabilities provide for the integration of IBM Systems Network
Architecture (SNA) protocols over Transmission Control Protocol/Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) networks.

As part of the announcement, NetSoft unveiled multiprotocol SNA
client-server connectivity over TCP/IP networks via the industry's leading
Local Area Network (LAN) server platforms, Novell's NetWare for SM and
Microsoft's SNA Server for Windows NT.

NetSoft also announced TCP/IP network support for several Microsoft Windows
Open Services Architecture (WOSA) connectivity standards, including
WinSock, WinHLLAPI, and the WOSA extensions to IBM's Common Programming
Interface for Communications (CPI-C).

"Windows users on TCP/IP networks can now run our NS/3270 and
DynaComm/Elite software for easy access to a full set of host-based
features such as 3270 display and printer emulation, GDDM host graphics,
Advanced Program-to-Program Communications (APPC), NetView support, XCOM
APPC file transfer, IND$FILE, and HLLAPI applications," said Raymond
Chan, NetSoft's v.p. of business development. "The ability to run SNA over
TCP/IP backbones is a pressing requirement for many of our larger
customers."

While some companies want to integrate growing TCP/IP user communities into
existing SNA networks, others are looking toward TCP/IP as the basis for a
single, heterogeneous, enterprise-wide networking solution. As a result,
NetSoft is delivering a full set of Windows-based product innovations
which not only allow TCP/IP-based client-server access to SNA mainframes
through existing Telnet implementations, but also deliver full SNA
services over TCP/IP.

NS/3270 and DynaComm/Elite

NetSoft announced a new version of NS/3270, the company's easy-to-use 3270
client software for Windows. The new release offers a native TCP/IP
connection through Novell's NetWare for SM and Microsoft's SNA Server for
Windows NT, while also supporting TN3270 communications for TCP/IP
installations running Telnet. At $95, NS/3270 features two 3270 sessions,
file transfer, graphical keyboard remapping, printer support, and an
EHLLAPI interface.

Also unveiled was a new version of NetSoft's flagship client for Windows,
DynaComm/Elite. This multisession, multiprotocol software product is the
first to supports concurrent 3270 and LU6.2/APPC communications through a
single SNA Physical Unit (PU). Like the new version of NS/3270,
DynaComm/Elite now supports native TCP/IP connectivity through Novell's
NetWare for SAA and Microsoft's SNA Server for Windows NT, as well as
TN3270 connectivity for Telnet installations.

At $395, DynaComm/Elite supports five 3270 sessions, multiple APPC
sessions, intelligent copy and paste, QuickStart, macro recording, flash
keypad, and many other advanced features.

In addition to TCP/IP connectivity, both software products also support
NetBIOS, IPX/SPX, 802.2, Coax and SDLC connections to the mainframe.

TN3270 vs. Native TCP/IP

Telnet software is used on some TCP/IP networks to provide 3270 emulation
support via the TN3270 protocol. Running on the mainframe, Telnet server
software provides a low-cost, limited-function solution for clients who
only need simple LU2 display emulation. NetView, IND$FILE, HLLAPI and
LU1/LU3 printer emulation is not supported.

Full-featured multiprotocol SNA over TCP/IP requires a native PC-to-host
connection such as those now added to NS/3270 and DynaComm/Elite. In this
case, all users on the enterprise-wide network get the exact same level of
SNA services whether they are connected through traditional SNA WAN links
or through TCP/IP backbones.

"Our customers tell us they want both types of SNA-TCP/IP
interoperability," said Mr. Chan.

WOSA Support

NetSoft has also added support for several WOSA standards for Windows users
accessing host services over TCP/IP. DynaComm/Elite now supports the
transportable CPI-C Applications Programming Interface (API) with
extensions based on Microsoft's WOSA CPI-C specification. Both
DynaComm/Elite and NS/3270 have been enhanced to support WOSA WinSock, the
Windows Sockets specification, as well as the WOSA WinHLLAPI standard.

"These are all important interoperability standards," said Mr. Chan. "In
particular, CPI-C is easier to learn and use than other APIs, and its
portable architecture allows APPC-based communications programs to be
moved from one platform to another without modifying the code."

Founded in 1980, NetSoft develops, markets and supports worldwide a broad
range of 3270, APPC, 5250 and RJE connectivity products for DOS, Windows,
Windows NT and OS/2. The company is headquartered at 39 Argonaut, Laguna
Hills, CA 92656. Phone: (714) 768-4013.
