NEXGEN Nx586 PROCESSOR TESTS 100% MICROSOFT WINDOWS COMPATIBLE

Nx586 Processor Also Receives XXCAL's Highest Compatibility Certification

MILPITAS, California, June 28, 1994 - NexGen, Inc., a leader in high
performance x86 processors, has received the right from Microsoft
Corporation to use the Windows Compatible logo with its Nx586 processor.
The authorization logo assures OEMs and end-users of the full
compatibility of the Nx586 processor with Windows.

In addition, XXCAL, a leading independent compatibility testing laboratory,
has tested the Nx586 processor with their most rigorous compatibility test
suites and awarded the NexGen processor with its highest seal of
compatibility - the Platinum certification. Previously, the Nx586
processor had passed XXCAL's precertification compatibility testing.

"We have rigorously tested the compatibility of the Nx586 processor with
hundreds of applications, operating systems and hardware. We understand
how critical it is for the user to be able to count on our products to
work with everything on their desktop and beyond," said Atiq Raza,
president and CEO of NexGen, Inc. "It is gratifying to see the Microsoft
Windows Compatible logo authorization and the XXCAL seal of approval
reinforce our product's ability to seamlessly integrate with the user's
existing systems and software while dramatically improving performance. "

"Customers want to be sure that the hardware they purchase is fully
compatible with Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications," said
Carl Stork, Director of Windows Hardware Programs at Microsoft. "NexGen's
Nx586 processor has successfully met Microsoft's requirements for
licensing the Windows logo. In displaying the Windows Logo, NexGen helps
their customers identify that their product is designed to work well with
the Windows environment."

Of the three levels of compatibility certification offered by XXCAL, NexGen
chose the Platinum option, which is the most rigorous level of testing
available. The testing process involved the widest range of operating
systems, application programs, utilities, peripherals and hardware. In
XXCAL testing, multiple rounds of applications tests checking the
functionality of major operating systems and many applications that run
under those operating systems were performed.

Included in the test were functional examinations of MS-DOS, DR-DOS,
Windows, OS/2, SCO UNIX and X-Windows. Similar tests were performed with
seven different network operating systems as well as micro-to-mainframe
emulation software and hardware involving an IBM mainframe via an IBM 3274
cluster controller.

developed tests as well as XXCAL's tests, can be obtained by contacting
