New Olicom SNMP Applications Simplify Device Configuration

Olicom to Resell HP OpenView to Give Customers "One-Stop Shopping"

June 14, 1994, Dallas, Texas--Olicom, a leading supplier of networking
solutions, today introduced a set of Simple Network Management Protocol
(SNMP) applications to simplify monitoring and control of Olicom's
complete range of standalone internetworking and intelligent hub products.
The new, easy-to-use SNMP applications, which operate under
Hewlett-Packard Company's OpenView for Windows v.7.1, save time and money
for network managers by making device configuration and management an
easier task.

In addition to the availability of the SNMP applications, Olicom also
announced that it has signed an agreement with HP to resell the HP
OpenView for Windows product worldwide. This gives customers "one-stop
shopping" for all of their SNMP management requirements.

"Olicom's products currently can be managed by several management systems,
including SNMP-based systems, but our users have requested Olicom-specific
functions as well as graphical representation of the products to simplify
configuration and monitoring," said Max Jensen, president and CEO of
Olicom USA, Inc. "Therefore, we have developed, and are now starting to
release, a series of management applications covering our complete range
of standalone internetworking and intelligent hub products."

Olicom selected HP OpenView for Windows as the basis for its SNMP
management applications because OpenView provides a versatile and powerful
network management environment.

"HP's OpenView is a state-of-the-art management system, which made it an
excellent platform for developing the kind of high-end management
functions users want in our new SNMP product," Jensen said.

Once Olicom decided to base its management applications on OpenView for
Windows, company officials began negotiations to allow Olicom to resell
OpenView to its customers.

"We have a strong commitment to our customers, and we wanted to make it
easy for them to take advantage of these new management applications,"
said Asbjorn Sorhaug, Olicom's vice president of strategic marketing. "Our
customers can now satisfy all of their SNMP management needs in one place
with top-quality products."

Olicom's new SNMP management applications provide graphical representation
and intuitive point-and-click management of all Olicom internetworking and
wiring products. The management applications function indentically for all
products. The computer displays a picture of the Olicom product including
all relevant status lights and other features, allowing the network
manager to control and monitor the product by pointing and clicking on
various control devices. For example, network connections can be connected
or disconnected by clicking a graphical representation of the product's
interface port.

Pricing and Availability

The first OpenView for Windows SNMP applications will be available in July
and will provide management for Olicom's Controlled Access Unit (CAU) and
Controlled Access Module (CAM) as well as any connected Lobe Attachment
Modules (LAMs). SNMP applications for Olicom's Wire-Speed Local Bridge
will be available in August with applications for the Remote and Remote
Multiport Bridges to follow in September. SNMP management applications
will also be included with the EtherCom Hub products scheduled for release
at the end of the year.

All of Olicom's SNMP applications are shipped free of charge with their
respective products. Existing customers can obtain the applications by
calling the Olicom Technical Support Department at 1-800-OLICOM-1
(1-800-654-2661). The applications can also be downloaded from the Olicom
